Cam Phaser Issues

The other individual with issues Is similar time frame build I think.

I would love to say that maybe they have ironed this out with motors in 23' but being this has been a thing Ford just can not get right for multiple motor generations I think that would be a laughable statement.

Whats ironic is FP created some better ones in mustang land for this issue, but yet after what 6 years, they still can't get them right in the Ecos. I never had the recall on my 19 F150, but I am sure it was going to get it at some point.

You need to find a better shop. I find it hard to believe that they have to take the engine out.

Some shops actually lift the F150 body up from the frame to expose the engine and get better access.

I have it on the 2.7 in my Bronco. They have to pull the 2.7 completely out to repair. It's such a large amount of work that I have to live with it for over 3 months before my dealer can get me in.

This matches with the users who have had cam phasers replaced on their 2.7. Review the other thread and you'll find other dealerships who have reported the same requirement.

UPDATE: After dealer inspection it is the cam phaser. So our motors are susceptible to this issue as well. Bad news is parts are on backorder so no ETA when it can be repaired.

2nd UPDATE: On the Bronco Raptor, the motor needs to come completely out for the repair.

2206 ENGINE RATTLE ( 42 ) 6256 REPLACE ALL VCTS.

PERFORM VEHICLE INSPECTION FOR ENGINE NOISE DURING COLD STARTUP AND CONFIRM CUSTOMER CONCERN. ALLOWED ENGINE COLD SOAK, DURING INITIAL STARTUP A RATTLE NOISE COMING FROM FRONT OF ENGINE UNDER FRONT COVER.

CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL, FOUND LEVEL OK, CHECK OASIS FOR ISB, NONE FOUND, CHECK TECH SUPPORT AND FOUND FEW VEHICLES WITH SAME CONCER.

CHECK VCT SOLENOID OPERATION, BY UNPLUGGING VCTS NOISE REMAIN WITH NO CHANGE REQUIRE FURTHER INSPECTION,

REMOVAL OF VALVE COVER TO CHECK

FOLLOWING WSM SECTION REMOVE AIR INLET PIPE, EVAP PURGE VALVE, IGNITION COILS & THROTTLE BODY, DISCONNECT WIRING HARNESS AND REMOVE L/H VALVE COVER, USING AN ADJUSTABLE WRENCH TO ROTATE CAMSHAFT, FOUND THAT INTAKE CAMSHAFT ROTATE INDEPENDENTLY FROM SPROCKET ON BOTH DIRECTION (NOT LOCKING ON PLACE ).COMPARE TO EXHAUST VCT IS LOCK AND NOT ROTATE.

Interesting take away here is this in particular: CHECK TECH SUPPORT AND FOUND FEW VEHICLES WITH SAME CONCERN. So, I guess mine is not the only one that has been reported to ford and requiring a fix, just no one else is posting about it.

Don’t read into this. It has nothing to do with when your truck was built or how many miles it has or what oil you were running. Goto the f150 raptor forum, there are thousands of post about cam phasers. Not all trucks has this problem. Ford had being dealing with this issue across different engine platforms and just consider yourself unlucky if you get it and there is nothing you can do to prevent it

There have been numerous posts about phaser rattle and issues on here. Unfortunately it’s very common.

I was referring to Bronco Raptor specific cam phaser issue. I clarified with my service that statement was Bronco Raptor specific.
