That sucks TD. Hope you get it sorted in time.
Have to say I am glad I changed my mind on the RC high mount

For anyone considering it I wouldn't rule it out, just don't consider it a complete kit.Have to say I am glad I changed my mind on the RC high mount
I have the JCR winch plate on order right now along with a winch. I'm trying to find out if I should be concerned about something like this and if I need to add reinforcements.@JcrOffroad may want to follow this thread.
It’s almost identical in the way it mounts to the vehicle (just uses the factory tow hook bolts) so I’d say if someone can bend the frame using the RC mount then I’d be looking at reinforcing it for the JCR mount tooI have the JCR winch plate on order right now along with a winch. Just here to quote myself from a couple weeks ago![]()
@VoltageDrop when you say “considering how high above the frame center line it mounts” what does that mean? I assumed the RC is mounted below the frame center line as it’s so low. Just trying to learn the lingo. ThxJust here to quote myself from a couple weeks ago![]()
The rough country high winch mount in question positions the winch/fairlead considerably above the frame line and particularly the mounting points for the mount itself.. creates a good bit of leverage particularly when winching down (nose high)@VoltageDrop when you say “considering how high above the frame center line it mounts” what does that mean? I would say the LoD or Havoc plates would be cheap insurance. The $100 would be well worth my time alone having to go back and correct this.I have the JCR winch plate on order right now along with a winch. See post #40How does the Everglades bronco mount the winch? Maybe it's better?
That's exactly how I built the hidden winch mount for my Tacoma, it's not going anywhere and is still technically "bolt-on", but I sleeved and plated the frame.Well back in the day we never bought aftermarket bumpers either. We would take off the stock bumper, extend the frame horns outward. Mount the winch plate on, then made the bumper around the winch. Sometimes it came out looking cool, sometimes not, after a few beers everything looked awesome. Either way it took a beating and kept wanting more. LOL!!
Oh I get it. I actually thought you were referring to the RC hidden winch. Makes sense now.The rough country high winch mount in question positions the winch/fairlead considerably above the frame line and particularly the mounting points for the mount itself.. creates a good bit of leverage particularly when winching down (nose high)
