Dealer said Molded In Color Hardtop not availble

Greetings all,

Just back from the dealer (1-29-2022), after ordering my 4-door OBX and I was informed that Ford, for the time being, will no longer aloow orders for Broncos with the MIC, Molded In Color Hardtop on both 2 and 4 door Broncos. Evidently, FoMoCo is having major fitment issues, so that option is discontinued till Design can fix the fitment issue. I had to order mine with the soft top, or no order at all.

Im really excited to see what color options will be on my 2023 or 2024 Bronco as we have to update order in Dec.! Good luck everyone!

I wish I could tell you man. That was what I wanted originally as well. I'm not sure even Ford knows at this point.

We went from

Mod at launch '21
Mod at late availability '21
Mod at launch '22
Mod at launch '23
...

Who knows what it is next. The people thinking they'll be able to order a Mod top as an accessory later are in for a rude awakening me thinks. Rumor is they won't even be backwards compatible with the MY21 & MY22s...

My other plan is, take delivery of the '22 later this year, lease for 24 months, get a '24 or a '25. What do you think?

I would say that's a safer bet if the lease numbers work out for you

Webasto has never been capable and never will be capable of making a quality top. Unfortunately Ford is stuck with them making garbage tops.

That's what I said. I think that was a case of wishful thinking.

I usually lease for 2 or 3 years anyway. I know the capitalized cost will be high, but so will the residual value. I think that's what I'm going to do.

Right- because there is a 2 year backlog of hardtops ahead of you and they don't need to exacerbate the issue. The hardtop WAS standard on the WildTrak also - now it comes in a soft top standard. Kinda see what I'm gettin at?

LOL When every hard top made has to be replaced you don’t have to be an expert, not to mention the numerous threads detailing the shit quality.
