I’m trying to decide between the ss3 pro or max in amber. Does anyone have experience with both and what are your thoughts? Mainly for on road use.

I’ve got the SS3 Pro SAE Fogs and SS2 sport SAE fogs. One of each in each pocket. They are crazy bright. Ran part of a drive back from SC to TN with just my fogs on, they’re that bright

That is insane, basically the same set up I would have. Has anyone ever flashed you because of brightness? I’m leaning towards the max because of the better cut off.

The a single set of the SSC2 Pros are brighter than my high beams. The SS3 much more so.

The Pro is a big jump over the standard, but the Max didn't seem like it was that much more for the money on paper. That said, I haven't seen one in person to compare it to.

Running a triple pod Pro setup in my Mod bumper it makes the standard headlamps cry for mercy.

Ok thank you for the reply. Do you have the fog pocket kit with the two ss3 and four ssc2 pro’s? And if so do you think they are pretty good? I’m assuming so.

I’ve only had a couple people flash me. I’ve been past tons of police too and never been stopped. I think since they’re amber they’re a bit easier on your eyes and isn’t as harsh as white

Yes, and I'm happy with them. I run a set of SSC2 amber fog SAEs as my fog lights full time, aimed so they are street legal. I have Combo SSC2 and a Driving SS3 in white, I only use those off road - aimed slightly higher and outward than street legal for off road use.

The fog pattern does really really well, and I almost don't even need to use low beams at night. The Driving lens is almost identical to the headlight pattern (more narrow and longer), but a lot brighter than the stock non-signature head lamp. The combo has a bit of both in it.

I very rarely get flashed - get it much more often in the F150 for some reason. But I'm fairly particular about making sure the headlights and lamps are set any time I do anything that adjusts the lift or the rake. I'm right at 4" drop at the light cutoff at 25'

Max are very bright. The Pros are the "Sweet Spot" in terms of what you get for your $$. But if you have money to burn, ya can't go wrong with the Max.

Check out our kits on our site. Only the SAE Fogs are street legal when installed in the fog opening OR the Driving, when used as a high-beam light. Otherwise "Fogs" up on the a-pillars are not legal and Driving lights are not legal if you're on a road with other drivers. So keep that in mind.

Check out our site at www.4x4TruckLEDs.com

With the new release of the SSC2 2.0 Max our Flush Kit is very popular. Most folks are doing SS3 Max Combos and then a pair of SSC2 2.0 Max Fogs and SSC2 2.0 Max Yellow Fogs

I had the SS3 Max amber and clear both in the fog light position on my '21 Ram 2500. They were incredibly bright even though SAE. I had to adjust the angle of them well beneath what spec says is allowed on-road because of how many other motorists they pissed off.

I would just go with the SS3 Pro and call it a day, or be willing to relegate the Max versions to use when no other motorists are around.

FWIW, I went with the Baja Designs Squadron SAE amber and clear in my Bronco. No such problems and plenty of light for their intended purposes.

Hey there!

So, in my humble opinion, the Max are a waste of money. Once you get to the Pro, there is really no reason to waste so much extra money for such a relatively tiny jump in power/output.
If you really want to have overall maximum output, and if you don't mind not having the amber backlights, I usually recommend a triple fog kit with Baja Designs lights. You can even do three full-size Squadrons in our kits, which can be customized with any variation of light patterns and colors.
Also, all of our kits will include our patented plug-and-play wiring that makes install a breeze and really clean.

Here is a link to some of the kits we offer: SPV Parts Ford Bronco Light Kits

I am currently offering our Labor Day Sale discounts early to anyone who calls/texts/emails me about building a cart. Currently we have pretty much everything in stock, so it's a great time to buy and know you won't have any delays on shipping, while still securing the lower sale price ahead of time.

Anyhoo, whichever way you decide to go, I would be happy to chat with you on a call and weigh the pros and cons, then get you a great deal with some additional savings, as well.

Feel free to call, text, or email me if you'd like help with this.
I would be happy to assist in any way possible.

Cheers!

I'm not him, but the Squadrons are smaller than the SS3s, so if space or size is an issue, go with them.

My opinion between the two, as someone who has nearly all the major player lights (Rigid, Baja Designs, Diode Dynamics, Morimoto) at varying output levels across 5 different rigs:

DD has a slight edge with their modularity with lenses, bezels and cover kits. BD lenses tend to trend yellower than the amber of SS3s if that is a concern. The finishes on the BD Squadrons seem to be aging better than the finishes on the DDs, though recently DD has said they improved the new coatings.

The SS3s and Squadron SAEs are both high quality lights with solid reputation, performance and warranties, so whatever version of a 4 LED pod you pick will be a good one that will perform.

Eh... I am happy enough with the Squadron SAE that I'll probably stay with it, but if I were truly buying again I'd probably do the DD SS3 SAE Pro because they put out more light. One pair in white light and the other in true amber (yellow LED with yellow lens).
