DONE! I have re-drilled rear shock mount 2” higher, =more clearance and 2” lift.

Other than ground clearance, do you know what advantage this would have over a spacer?
yes first and foremost the shock doesn't hang so low under the axle. but also a spacer puts the spring into a compressed state and ultimately shortens the stroke of the shock. So in my opinion this is a great option for the rear.

Are you talking about a spring preload spacer? I’m referring to a top hat one he used on the front…

sorry. I misunderstood. I was talking about the rear.
Haha same! I’m just trying to understand if there’s any other advantages/disadvantages to using a top hat spacer in the back vs drilling a new hole besides the added ground clearance (counting you shave off everything on the bottom of your new hole)

The new hole position also changes the coilovers geometry. Giving the axle a longer stroke of travel... Not by much but it does.

Did you get a chance to cut off the remaining lower bit and box the bracket??

It seems ridiculous that this isn't the stock position. If long term durability doesn't suffer I bet a lot of folks make this change. Would this mod and a 2" space for the front top hat be a fairly even lift?

Yeah that's pretty much the lift that I'm running Puck's in the front and this in the back

alot of folks don't really understand what this mod does....and are afraid to drill, weld or change ANYTHING. they just buy and bolt on parts instead.

Well I AM curious if having the shock body closer to the axle affects anything down the road or at extreme angles.
