Genuinely positively shocked to have averaged 20 MPG in my first full year with a Bronco. 20 MPG is the actual number, while the optimist Ford dash computer says 21 overall.

A few notes for context,

— 2022 Base Sasquatch 4D 2.7
— PA driving, plenty of hills and stoplights. Not a lead foot, but hardly timid
— Auto-Start-Stop is always turned off, hate it
— When daily-driving (30% use) the 25 min commute is mostly four-lane highway at 60-70 mph. Occasional traffic jams
— Bad mileage only if flying on the PA turnpike at 75-85 mph
— Occasionally off-road on cream puff trails. 2.7 makes such easy work of hills and everything. Not exactly Moab or desert-running here
— Use top-tier 87 gas, except for 91 a couple of times due to BMW habits. Small sample size, but 91 made no difference
— No engine mods except replacing the stock air filter with K&N somewhat recently (filter only, not cold-air intake)

Was considering the Ford Performance 2.7 tune, but have rethought since the truck is performing so great on 87, including smooth transmission shifting. Plus, I’m unclear whether the auto-start-stop holds its setting with the tune or not, and a few posts about the software bricking during installation spooked me. I’ll wait

Actual MPG data:

Ford Bronco First full year with my 4D Base Sasquatch 2.7 surprised me with 20 MPG 1688519970701

Also, the overall trip meter was only reset once at 400 miles, so another dashboard data point

The data we need....but we dont deserve! Well done on this log report!

I am doing 91 only and under 1000 miles...so far 13 mpg. Light footed on this break in period.
2.7
sasquatch
Softop mostly half top or full top down. The parachute like physics probably really hurts the MPGs.

I'm at 650 miles and have gotten a best of 14.4 I don't ever expect to get any better either.

I don't know how I could physically get only 13 mpg, until I noticed you are in LA. From experience, 13 mpg on the 405 would be stellar

I have a hardtop with the panels off sometimes, but southeastern PA is definitely not SoCal. I would prefer the soft top in the South Bay to West Hollywood corridor for sure, mpg be damned

I really don't know how people are seeing numbers like 20MPG when I've averaged 16.5MPG (2.3 manual 4 door) over the last 20 months  (sorry this is all in km)

Since I use fuelly to track my data, if anyone is interested in seeing the full data, I think they can click the link in my signature.

Lead food and typically drive around 85 on the highway. Lots of highway miles. 22k in and average 17.

I'm at 18'ish mpg with my 2D 2.7 with Squatch. If you're getting 20'ish, you must be very light footed and coasting some too.

Really, the only light-footed thing I do is look ahead to stoplights turning red, that's it. If by coasting you mean flipping from drive to neutral and back when at speed, hard no. Every mechanic I've known says doing that absolutely, positively, wrecks automatic transmissions. At least for BMW ZFs that is.

I'm now 21-22 around town. 4 door BD, normal mode, try to keep rpms 1.4 or less. The only time I get hurt is over 65mph. Rpms are over 2....I'm a year in.

I can see the 20 mpg avg if most of the driving is in the 55-63 mph range with minimal stops. I'm getting around 18 mpg with almost all around town 30-45 mph with stops all over the place. The one longer drive I've done which was mostly 55-60 mph I got 21 mpg with my 2.7 2 door Sas. I use normal mode with 87 octane and I don't use AC. I'm only at 1400 miles so I think it's still breaking in and getting used to my driving habits.
