Has anyone removed the swaybars on their Base Bronco, to add some more flex? I've put on my nomex suit, and have years of experience as a race and off road driver/ instructor, so I know all the reasons pro and con... But figured I asked before I went and did it. Obviously, not for everyday use- I should add. Strictly for trail work.

Thanks,
T

I made my own swaybar disconnects and drove around with it disconnected a few weeks back. I wouldn’t recommend it for street use it had way more body roll taking turns. If your driving miss daisy you might be okay.

I completely removed my swaybar. Yes it has more body roll and yes it doesn't handle as well on canyon roads but it isn't a sports car and who is pushing it that hard on the pavement. I suppose that it could get interesting in a freeway emergency situation but It drives much much better off road. I have no interest in putting the bar back on but anyone removing it should be aware that it does change the handling and that could be a bad thing.

While I have not done it on an IFS vehicle, I did it on my XJ. Removed both front & rear & drove appropriately with no issues.
YMMV

I ditched both front and rear sway bars on my 87 Bronco on a long travel (17”F/16”R) coilover front/leaf rear suspension. It had some lean that was tamed with better shock valving, but was fine to drive for the 15 years I ran it that way. I would expect the Bronco to lean some but be fine.

I have no problem with removing the sway bar, but the hitachi coilovers are pretty soft. I'd try it to see how it works for you, but the Bilsteins might be better for going swaybarless.

Yes it is and I am

Also @Frankie945 can we get a write up or at least a parts list on your discos? Why isn't anyone selling these yet?!

Enjoy that and I hope you keep the shiny side up. Personally I'll use sports cars for driving fast on canyon roads.

I unbolted the links prior to going off road. Zip tied them back, easier than removing the whole thing
Did you unbolt the top or bottom?
