I noticed in my ‘22 Wildtrak that I have had improved mileage in the last 6-9 months without any mods with 87 octane fuel and in normal mode, 18.4! Sticker had 17 MPG, so shocked was better.

Anyone else notice this or even suggestions to improve besides driving in ECO mode?

The ECM learns to control air/fuel ratio as it learns your driving style. Also your engine is getting broken in and easier to spin as is the transmission and all gear boxes.

During road trips with mostly highway driving my Badlands 2.7 gets 22-24 mpg's, when city driving its 18 mpg's at best.

Eco mode will see the best improvements during city driving and doesn't do anything once your up to speed and cruising, except when throttling up to pass somebody.

MPG's can vary depending on a lot of factors, yours seems pretty normal.

This is purely anecdotal, but I always use 91 octane and have noticed much better MPG's than when I've had to put in 87 because that's all the gas station had when on a road trip. like 2-3 mpg's better.

Learning to lean in to the throttle but staying out of boost is key. I have learned I can get 18+ city driving if I baby that throttle, but what is the fun of having boost if I don't use it :). I have seen 20-22mpg on the hwy, again, thats flat ground, you add mountains or wind and I am at 15-18mpg.

Remember EcoBoost is either eco or boost not both.

I've noticed best mileage comes from 89, keeping it out of boost, cruise control whenever possible. I got 24.2 on my last tank(2.3L, A10, 3.73 rear). I have also noticed that top tier gas results in better MPG. My best MPG always comes with Shell or Mobil. When I fill up at BP, MPG is constantly 2-3 MPG worse.

BP should be Top Tier as well. 🤷‍♂️

The Costco near me always gives me great fuel mileage. Just learned that Meijer (regional superstore type chain) has top tier fuel at their stations, will start logging that data now.

Added 35's to my 2.3/7spd/4.46 Base, using 5th gear to keep boost down, I get 21 mpg at 78 MPH (2700rpm).
Hand calculated, verified over several tanks worth.
These 4cyl motors like to spin.
6th gear is essentially useless, it's a gas hogging, super boosting dog at that point.

I would aim to keep Interstate RPMS around 2500 or 2600 if I could pick the right gear/tire combo. However, I have found (via Grimm Jeeper gearing calculator) doing that will make 1st gear REALLY REALLY low.

Believe it used to be, but it's not listed any more on the top tier site. Maybe the local BP station by me just has bad gas constantly lol. Either way I have noticed best MPG for me is Shell or Mobil

LOL, now I need to do a Shell/Costco/Meijer fuel mileage run off.
Nothing like wasting a few hundred on gas to determine the best fuel for mileage, LOL!!!

Mobil stations are few and far by me, Shell only slightly better, but at least there is one in my hometown.

Edit to clarify that Costco's are Top Tier ...IF.. their supply terminal at each location offers it.
