So in the grand scheme of things-

Gas prices
$3 a gallon at 18MPG over 12k year-$2000 a year
$4 -$2666
$5 -$3333

So that works out to be

$3 a gallon is roughly $38 a week
$4 gallon is roughly $52 a week
$5 gallon is roughly $62 a week

You might want to rethink buying a $50K vehicle if you can't absorbe a $1300 or so a year increase in gas prices-which is roughly 2-3-4 car payments.
What happens is a family may have 2 or three vehicles, so multiply $1300 X 3.

Funny how posts were deleted due to “politics” while other political views are still on here.

I sold my 2004 TDI Jetta Wagon for this. 40+ MPG tuned and fun to drive. But…

Well I don't think anyone is going to feel that bad for a family who can afford 3 cars, honestly.

Makes me appreciate my Jeep JLUL with a Diesel that much more….highway 28 mpg and city I’m averaging 23 mpg…. However with that said the price of fuel is not going to deter me from using my Bronco once I get it. Just need to green light US Oil and Gas will be back to reasonable priced fuel.

In after close!
Wahooooo!

Really high gas prices means more people riding motorcycles which means better overall drivers. I guess it ain’t all bad. When it starts to hurt I’ll figure out what that 6th gear is for on my Bronco and my bikes.

I drove a 2015 VW Passat TDI 6MT sedan for a few years in the name of fuel costs (41 mpg). It was a very practical car that I did enjoy driving because of the manual. I was driving 40K miles per year and had a decent car allowance from my employer. In July 2020 I bought a new Raptor to drive the same route at 16 MPG. I decided I wanted to drive what I really loved rather than what was practical. I could afford the extra fuel and truck payment, so that was the new plan. We make decent money, save for retirement, don’t have any kids, so I might as well live a little.

Fast forward a couple years and I sold the Raptor for a cross country move into a new career and more comp. I have a company 1500 diesel truck, a Bronco, the wife drives a new Tacoma, and I have a first wave Lightning Pro order placed. I ordered the Lightning because I manage a medium size fleet for my employer and want to experiment with the new tech before deciding what direction to advise. We should trim the fleet since we don’t need 4 vehicles for two of us, but won’t make any changes until the Lighting arrives.

High fuel costs are just another form of inflation passed on from our overlords down to us plebs. Certain people making poor decisions can make the burden worse, but that can be said for all inflation.

Looks like I may ride this more than the top-off Bronco this summer. More than 2X the efficiency, considerably less cargo room, and no sway bar disco.

Haven't seen a bike on the road in 4 months.
Rode mine the whole week of Christmas, which was new for me, and a bit in Jan and Feb. Not to save gas, but I do when I can.

Grand scheme of things 12K miles a year.......... City slicker I take it?
