A chemical weld that dissolves the surfaces and bonds two surfaces directly together is vastly different then a glue adhesive that is weak in shear through the adhesive substance itself. I have no doubt you are completely aware of this, however just wanted to point it out for the more general audience that might misunderstand that your statement does not apply to this particular circumstance.Agreed when the materials are mixed as in this metal to composite joint. If they were two compatible composite parts, a solvent weld would have been permanent. There’s actually a lot of glue used in body panel fabrication in vehicles now.
