I just bought a new Outer Banks 4-door and need to get rid of the wimpy OE tires (255/70/18 Bridgestone Dueler A/T's) for a little beefier A/T tire. I travel a lot of mountain dirt/gravel roads, deal with some snow in winter. Maybe Toyo Open Country AT III, etc.

I would like to go up in size a bit. What would be a size that would work with the stock suspension and wheel. Maybe something like 265/70/18? Suggestions? Pics?

Thanks!

Falken Wildpeak A/T’s I believe are snow rated. I had them on my OBX at one point and liked the off road capability and on road performance.

I had Goodyear Durtrac's on mine. I have them on my F150 as well. I have used them since 2010 on all my trucks. They are great winter tires do very well off road, and have great on road drivability.

Well, how tall do you want to go??? LOL

But yeah, just getting a meatier tread will change the look considerably.

In short, the Bronco will handle up to a 35" tire with minimal mods (No lift). Some folks have ran 35" tires on even the factory +55mm wheels and had no or very minimal rubbing issues.
Move to a +30 or +35 wheel and most of those issues go away...at least for street/mild trail driving on 35's.

Using your OEM wheel, you can for sure jump up to a 33" class tire, most of which are actually only 1/2" taller than your factory wheel/tire combo .... but the look of a meaty all terrain really changes the look.
285/65-18 = 32.6"

In this pic, @Jazer swapped the nasty OBX street wheels for Badlands "33's" wheels and tires . Note the wheels are 17".
fwiw, 17" wheels have far more tire selection to choose from, often cheaper as well.

Here's my base on 35's. No lift, removed the crash bars.

I went 275/65R18. Gives you nice width without sizing up the tire OD.

Really nice to keep your speedo calibration and almost every manufacturer makes a passenger load rated tire of that size.

Most popular tire upsize on an 18” OBX wheel is 275/70. All but the Grabber ATx will be LT rated though.

Tire opinions are kind of like oil change threads. You’ll get 1000 different answers. Toyo AT3 has been great for me but I’ll probably consider more of a hybrid tire for my next set. Realizing I’ll never hear the tires over the soft top noise 😂

Just an FYI Big Bend rims go for pretty much nothing, just like the OBX take-offs, 17" rims will give you some more sidewall, and maybe some more options. Non-sasquatch Badland take-offs (33's) may be a great option also.

For your use case I think the 265 tire will be ideal. You'll be amazed at the change in look since the factory 255 only has an 8" tread and most more aggressive AT 265s will be over 9".
