A guy came into my shop a month or so ago. Destroyed a Diverge and an Instinct C70 on his roof rack. Wrecked the brand new garage a bit too.

The real problem is that we can't get him bikes or parts to replace anything until next year.
And if he's that much into Bikes, that must've been a slap your forehead moment as well.

I'm really hoping I can get a replacement part for the composite header. Any help from fellow B6G'rs would be so appreciated.

Happens more often than you think. I work in a small shop now and see it once a year. It was probably a monthly occuramce when I was in a bigger shop. A number of my friends have done it with varying degrees of damage.

It's one of the reasons I won't buy a roof rack and I try to get my customers to avoid them as well.

I do remember a family trip, Michigan to Florida, dad drove the Aerostar into a gas station car wash, and crunched all our luggage that was in the rooftop carrier!

Must be in my DNA!

I did the same thing about 12 years ago and crushed my road bike. Luckily my home owners insurance covered it and have a hitch carrier😊 Call your insurance company.

Yes, was thinking about that, but I hate making claims. If I can't find the repair parts, I may have to. Our Upholstery shop does all kinds of convertibles and he said he can fix it if I can get the Composite Header part. We'll see.

If you want to make more room....I could use a '70 in my stable....
It is Medium Lime Metallic. No one likes that color…except me.

I have no issues with that color.

One of my old off road trucks had an antenna mount on top that made it too tall to fit in the garage. I forgot I bolted it back on and proceeded to drive into the garage. The mount was so hefty that it compressed the truck springs and ducked under the opening then pushed the garage door backwards off the rails. Lots of noise and chaos. Never did that again.

Sorry for the damage and your broken foot. Good luck with both.

Sorry For you loss. Sadder but wiser right
One would hope, I should have known. My head wasn't in the right space after damaging my Bronco. Should have never got on the ladder!

I'm just hoping someone on the Forum can help me find the part I broke. I know we have a deep bench so we'll see.

After I bent a roof rack (thankfully not the bike) driving into the garage I have a new system:

Whenever a bike is on top of the car I take the garage opener off of the visor and put it in the back seat or trunk area. Breaks the automatic routine and forces me to get out of the car and remember not to drive in.

This is wise advise, stopping the normal routine is exactly the decision loop to be in.
