2025 Base on the way (literally on the train). The tires that come with the base are 255 70 16. Personally, I love the steel wheels and I will paint them black so I'm staying with the 16". That said, the tires LOOK lame as heck. What I want is something larger, say 32 or 33", and I want them to look bigger but not have the prominent tread of some of those tires. As a matter of fact, what I would like are the tires that are depicted in this picture:

Just something taller but not a tire that is more geared to off roading and is not going to stick out past the fenders. Any suggestions?

I believe a 255/85-16 will put you in the 32" range. Offered by many brands...take a look at Falken Wildpeaks.

Many have gone with a 285/75-16 at around 32.7" tall.
It is a bit wide for the Base wheel, but most shops will install it.

As mentioned, the 255/85-16 will be around 33" , seems to be a limited selection though.

Jump up to the Black Diamond 17" steelies and the "33 inch" options open up A LOT!

The factory Badlands size of 285/70-17 (32.7" ) has something like over 100 all terrain or all-season options.

Keep in mind the cost to mount and balance the tires when you look around. If you just want a cheap, black wheel, you can probably get something in a 17" nicer than the stock steelies for ~$600. As mentioned that opens up your tire options.

The first thing I did was change the rims and tires. Looks like a mail jeep with those steelies and road tires. Painting them black will help a lot! Just find a tire that you like the tread pattern, go a little taller and wider, and you will be set! Good luck!

There is nothing wrong with those tires! They are perfectly capable of driving you to the shop to install the tires you want. That is their purpose.

It reminds me a bit of a monster truck traveling on normal wheels/tires and then changing out at the destination.

my '22 base with OEM black diamond wheels/tires (purchased as take-offs from my dealer). it's the goldilocks setup for me... good luck with your search!

This is honestly the way. The black diamond rims look the same as the base steelies, except already black (you said you were going to paint em). Going to a 17-inch rim over the 16-inch opens up a lot of options for you to find the perfect look you want.

I have a Black Diamond with the stock setup - 265/70/17 General Grabbers - and I agree that it's a great setup if you're not going to seriously off-road. Looks big enough but still great on the road. I believe they measure about 31.5"

My Xterra had 265/75-16's, nominal 32's. 32" tires and a rear locker will take you far off-road, even more so with a two-door.

MT's are great on the street, great in the wet, and great in the snow. You pay for it a bit in wear. I ended up lifting my four door BD about 1.5" and going to 33's because I was dragging a bit much on WI woods trails.

The General's that come on the BD come in 265/75-16 as well. Mine are now on my newish-to-me JK Rubicon. They did fine off-road on my Bronco, they are even better in the snow than the MT's (except for deeper, slushy stuff, there the MT's are better, but the General's are the best non-dedicated winter tire in the winter I've used.) That two door Jeep will do just fine on 32's.

We bought some new takeoffs from an OBX for my girlfriend’s new 25 base. Cheapest upgrade by far especially after selling her factory wheels and tires.
