A winch is on my Christmas list, but I’m probably too naughty for Santa, so I’m saving up for the Ford Performance package — for the simple fact that it includes the mount, the frame reinforcement, and a Zeon winch

I don’t plan on worrying about the software side of it though. May play with it if I get FDRS for something else though.

Until that day, a 4T come along, a 25’ logging chain and a 50’ kinetic rope live in a bucket that I throw in the back when I go up the mountain

Having watched people use these front mounts I would avoid them like the plague. The amount of flex even with the Ford Performance one is more than I am comfortable with. I wouldn't use one for anything more than flat ground recovery.

I would go with a full winch bumper, synthetic rope and harbor freight/warn/smittybuilt winch.

Most likely you will use this setup in mud or snow. These situations are typically high load and long pulls. I would spend the money if you plan to wheel alone. You also may not get to choose how you recover yourself, sideways pull of the closest tree would not be fun with a cheap mount.

How is this thread 6 pages???

The options have been very well laid out and we already have a ton of threads on this.

Get a winch mount, get frame horn reinforcements, buy a winch (Apex Badlands 12000 is excellent). Buy ACC and/or camera relocation if needed.

If you are not confident in installing this yourself, go to a SHOP!

If you do not have the money to do this then, A) Don't or B) save up.

Why do people see a topic that they think has been adequately covered before, feel the need to read, and then comment that this topic has been covered before?

You could say the same about pretty much every topic at this point. I guess it's time to shut the site down and just search old posts.

Why would someone respond to a comment from someone who's complaining about a new thread about a topic that has already been covered? I dunno; bored I guess.

Sometimes people are ornery. Some days it's my turn...

I just think it's funny that the "oh noz 2.7 is a gonner" rumor thread is up to how many pages?? 25? Oh wait, I think I've posted on that multiple times...

Who would start such a troll thread?

I have little “winch” knowledge having never owned one in 50+ years of “wheeling” (maybe 50+ rubicon trips + most serious N cal trials)…always went with others and never been winched…but with my old age and creature features of the bronco thought I may find myself out alone and in need of a winch…since my BB had plastic bumpers I needed a winch bumper…spent some time here researching…liked the JCR stuff got Their ft & rr bumpers along with sliders…got lucky with TD frame supports (before he stopped making them) and the warn VR 10 went on sale…added a synthetic rope and fairing to the winch…so that is my setup…used it couple times on snow run at off angles without problems and plenty happy with the setup…hope your choices work well for you!

George, I was in the same boat with ya! Fairly new to 4 wheeling but I do get aggressive from time to time and wanted something similar to what you're asking for and surely never want to get stuck offroad somewhere when a few bucks up front for a winch would have taken care of the issue. I chose the Rough Country high mount that bolts directly to our bumper (same as yours) and their 12,000 lb Winch with synthetic rope. I chose the high mount over the low mount because I don't want to be rooting around in the mud or snow when trying to get to my winch. Just a little insurance policy in my mind! I do keep the winch covered so the rope isn't exposed to the sunlight all day long which can deteriorate the rope. Another factor is safety, most will agree if a winch cable is to break, it's safer for a synthetic rope to break vs a cable and they weigh less.

High Winch Mount | Ford Bronco 4WD (2021-2024) | Rough Country
12000-Lb Pro Series Winch | Synthetic Rope | Rough Country

Hope this helps!

What cover did you use for the winch? I looked at the RC ones and didn't look like it would fit with the camera relocate bracket.
