The upper hinge on my gate looks to be unfinished. Doesn’t seem to be a bubble or potential peeler, just unfinished surface. Is that possible? It doesn’t bother me so long as it doesn’t cause any problems; it’s like a beauty mark to me.

I have similar. Weird sections look like it touched something and peeled off and painted over.

Normal paint defects not specific to any model. The paint inspectors, chassis line inspectors, pre delivery inspectors and dealer inspection should have caught that if it came from the paint shop that way. It could be a spot repair in pre delivery but should not have left the plant that way.

Local dealership has front bags.

Cleaned them off and noticed this along the edge. Looks like something was under the paint here as well.

Almost looks like the polishing compound that I find on aftermarket parts.

It’s automotive sealer. Make them fix it. The dealer will submit pictures to ford and as soon as they see it they’ll know they fucked up.

That's a pitted surface under your paint. Probably a hinge that had some rust pitting from sitting that once blasted, still had the pits left over.
I fix stuff that looks like that every day, and QC should have caught it.

I guess when your doors are off you notice things.

Anyone notice runs or build ups?

Ordering door bags now.

Definitely a substrate issue.
Either corrosion or outgassing of a repair area they did.
Either way you have paint adhesion failure there.
Based on the smaller bubbles next to it, it is an outgasssing of some sort.
Definitely a repaint situation on that door.
Keep us posted!

Am I abnormal that this stuff totally doesnt bother me? In owning it for a month now, I have probably caused more issues than could have ever come back from the factory. Id get this fixed then set it on the concrete garage floor only to get an identical ding. I never understood chasing these little cosmetic issues on an off-road truck.

I do agree, it should be right, but probably not worth the effort taking it to the dealer. I have a couple issues with mine (like someone shut a flashlight in the hood and bent the front lip) but I'm 'trying' to enjoy it regardless :)

Came here to chime in with the same thought.

The door skins are aluminum, right? So at least they won't rust. But that needs a re-spray.

Larger issue: I wonder how the "average" dealership will handle these situations considering the doors are removable, on a larger scale?

If the doors were taken off then it's the customers issue? Or do they adjust the PPI for Bronco? (although this should have been caught earlier.... Always bring a proper single-diode sun lamp LED for your own PPI)

Oh I'm defintely enjoying it. I probably won't take it in for a little bit. Not losing sleep. It's the only thing that's getting driven these days.

I do appreciate everyone's input though.

I do a 5 ding rule. Once I get 5 door dings, I take it in. That way I don't have to get upset 5 times :)
