That tapping noise, is that from the UCA being loose, I have the same noise and can't seem to figure it out

is with a wrench, one is visual. Bolts can stretch and be out of torque, bushings can compress.
Hmm very possibly. I can’t recall what I was hearing there as I was concentrating on the line, I do have some driveline lash that will crunk like that too (but doesn’t sound nearly so loud, at least from inside)
The noise that I have sounds like one of the skid plates flexing so it creaks, I took it to the dealer, they said it was my aftermarket UCAs making the noise but they said everything looked fine, I am now wondering after seeing your post if they are loose and they didn't even check that.
This is true. Paint mark is just a quick visual check to tell you the bolt hasn’t backed off.

Paint is often used in the factory as verification that a fastener has been torqued to final specification. This allows for fast visual inspection down the line. It won't keep a fastener from getting loose.

I guess I look at it as the witness mark is only used as a visual indicator and should be applied after the appropriate torque has been used. If it moves, the connection needs to be looked at. Just a quick way to verify if something has loosened or not. Saved our bacon several times with the aerospace portals when paint marks on the bolts holding the brake brackets on weren’t lined up.
I agree, they can also function as a witness mark if applied properly. But sometimes they cover the entire fitting and you lose that feature.
