Question about Bambi mode... don't think that is what I'm looking for.

Everything I find about Bambi mode (via Forscan) talks about keeping the fog lights on with your high beams.

That's not what I'm looking for. I want to be able to turn my fog lights on when my headlights are OFF.

Last time I was out on a trail, it was dusty and I realized my fog lights would not come on unless I switched my headlights from auto in order to turn them on. Of course then every time I got out of the Bronco I had to remember to turn my headlights off.

Does Bambi mode also fix that?

Sorry I don't understand. Normally during the daytime, my headlight switch is on auto and my headlights are off. If I press the button to turn my fogs on they won't turn on.

I want to fix this and someone mentioned Bambi mode but everything I read says that allows your fog to stay on When you turn on your high beams.

I just want to turn my fogs on regardless of my headlight situation.

Hmm. I too think I had to switch from Auto to get fogs on.

I meant use the parking lights setting on the dial, but I see what your trying to do. I use that mode for off-road as it turns on everything except the headlights. You are correct bambi mode is only for getting the fogs on with high beams.

Yes, Bambi mode allows your fogs to stay on with highs, and that is it. I have no idea why it is called Bambi mode, but that's what it is.

Fogs come on with parking lights, and as far as I know, there is no option to turn them on without the parking lights being on.

If you really wanted, you might be able to hook up an override switch, might need a diode to prevent voltage from going back down the line, and turn them on that way. But at this point you'd be better off installing extra lights and wiring them to a switch ;)

Ok..bummer but good to know and saves me the trouble.

Ironically there's a whole thread about people swapping out their switch they can install fog lights "like factory" But with all the limitations, it would be easier just to wire it up to an upfitter.

And I did not know about the parking. I have no issue turning on my headlights versus parking, it was the fact that I have to remember to then manually turn that off.

Going the route of the diode in an upfitter sounds like a clean solution if I ever feel motivated enough :)

I think there's an option for fogs with DRL. Maybe see if that helps.

Thanks.. I'll look into that since DRL are on that would solve the issue.

**Edit**

I just looked at my as built and according to the speadsheet, my DRL with Fog is currently disabled.

I wonder if that means DRL come on with Fog or Fogs can come on with DRL....

Thanks for at least giving me something to look into.

Well that was a bust. Since I already have fog lights, the only thing in Forscan to tweak was fog with high beam, and fog with DRL.

Nether of these settings allowed me to turn the fogs on with the headlight switch set to "auto"

Guess my only alternative, if I care enough to do it, is a wire in an auxiliary switch with a diode and tap into the fogs + side.

Dang, that's weird. So if the headlight switch is in auto and the DRLs and fogs are on that won't work for you? Maybe I'm not understanding the goal.

Correct...if The headlight switch is on auto, and auto "decides" It is too bright outside to have the headlights on, the fogs turn off.

Once it gets dark enough, and the auto "decides" to turn the headlights on, the fogs will come on (as long as I had pushed the fog button at some point)

So when I'm on the dusty trail and want my factory fog lights on as markers, I can't unless I manually intervene with the headlight switch.

Well that sucks. I would like my DRLs to be the amber markers and fogs, but haven't messed with it yet.
