madbadsquatch, 7MT, yadda, yadda, yadda with ford performance tune and diet of 93 octane premium

21 mpg at ~2800 miles
Did the Ford Performance Tune improve your MPGs? And how are you liking the tune with the manual? I get about 19mpg with a BaseManSquatch.

Nice, I may have to get that. How are you liking the tune with the manual transmission? Any significant changes in Normal, and other modes?

Beautiful, another fuel economy thread.

That fact that it's a Badlands means almost nothing compared to it being a Sasquatch. I just passed 12,000 miles on my 2-door Base Sasquatch with 2.3 4-cylinder and have averaged a little over 20 mpg for the last 4000 miles. This includes a lot of off road driving. But I never go over 75 mph on the freeways (speed limit is 80 around here) and I'm always gentle on the throttle.

I take mine places like this:

2021 Badlands NoN SaS with 35's (Forscan Speedometer Adjustment done to match GPS Speed). 2.3 I4 and 10SPD Auto.
Cruising with Low Wind at 65MPH shows my instant MPG around 25MPG but with speed up and slow down on highway or light grades, I average about 21-22 MPG Comfortably.

I use Premium 91 Octane every fill up (Good for Turbos) and my full tanks normally shows around 410-420 Miles.

I am at 4500ft Above Sea Level.

When I am going through passes and going up long grades, my lower MPG averages 18.5MPG with a def low of 15MPG peak.

My overall is sitting right around 20 MPG.

I hope that helps.

I have a Badlands non SAS with the stock 33" tires and 2.7 L engine. I don't have enough miles on it to have a good reading on mpg yet. I also have no hand calculated mpg yet. Over the first 2,700 miles my driving was all city and averaged around 15.5 mpg. I have a heavy foot.

Then I took a round trip on the freeway for over 200 miles and got up to 18.9 mpg. I was driving mostly 80 mph and so was most of the traffic. There was a lost of vehicles on the road so I was probably getting an advantage of draft. Since I took that trip my around town mileage has gone up to 16.

My normal speed on long trips on Interstates is 72 to 75 mph. I expect I should be able to get at least 20 mpg then. That is a big plus for me. The maximum I can get with my 02 Ranger with 33" tires, a 4.0 SOHC engine and 5 spd manual transmission is 18 mpg and that is keeping it at 72 mph max with no headwind.

I had a ’23 Wildtrak Sas and averaged in the mid 18s and 19s. I even went up to 20 on a trip from South Texas to the eastern side of West Virginia. Because of some ongoing mechanical issues that 2 different dealerships couldn’t resolve fully, I traded it in for a ’25 Badlands Sas. The Badlands has consistently been running in the mid 17s. We live in the middle of nowhere, so this is a lot of highway miles sprinkled with a bit of “city” (using the term loosely). My daughter-in-law also runs a Badlands (’21 non Sas, I think). She consistently runs in the 17s and couldn’t believe I could get 1-2 mpg better, consistently. The recall on the screen programming was done remotely with an update. Since that time, I have been running in the mid 16s! I reset both the trip and the overall calculator, and it has been reporting in the 14s! I’m extremely sad about this. I am having to stop at the pump so much more.

I'm going to have to agree with you on your findings, I have a 24 Badlands with SAS and I drive 20 miles to work, some is back roads but 10-12 is 70 MPH Highway.

If I drive it like a normal car, 13.5-15mpg Max on the highway, and that is with Cruise set to like 72-75 to keep up.

Been off for a couple weeks for a surgery driving local, and i am grabbing max 17mpg (ish), I don't hotdog it either, I have an S650 for that thrill. So town driving works better for my MPG than the highway, but a few local trips of 15+ miles does find me at 18 mpg in traffic.

Got right at 20 on the -670 mile drive to Houston. 2.3l 7spd with 4.70 but no Sasquatch. Cruise was set on 80 most of the way. Half of the drive was on 91 and half on 93...it actually dropped a bit on 93.

I've got -350 miles to the Valley tomorrow morning and back and then back up to Dalhart on Tuesday. Oil change to follow as it will be at about 2200 miles by the time I get home...
