As a long time driver who always chooses to have a manual transmission, I am sick and tired of being denied the forbidden fruit of a remote start.

Why do the automakers pretend that there is no way to tell if the transmission is in gear or if it is safely in neutral? What would be so difficult about a simple neutral safety switch? What is the reason that no manufacture will do this?

Fellow manual transmission drivers, the time has come for us to rise up. Grab your torches and pitchforks! We are few but we are strong! We will lay siege to their manufacturing plants and corporate headquarters, and we will not stop until the CEO's of every automaker answers for their crime of denying us the luxury of a remote start, as well us denying us the glory of a mid, high, or lux package!

Probably because of liability and the fact you shouldn't leave your vehicle in neutral.

Don't think too much into it, or get the 10spd.

I agree, i have always been confused as to why car makers have not implemented this. It doesnt seem to be that difficult. I myself have an auto however my brother drives a Focus RS and has complained about that

I've had remote start system added to a stick vehicle. This was prob 15 years ago. I had to to remember in this order. Put the car into reverse, pull the e brake, then put into neutral, turn off the car. If you didn't to that, then remote start wouldn't work. PITA

While I am in the Manual camp, I do not understand remote start. The idea of leaving a running car alone does not sit well with me. Yeah the thing can be 150 degrees in the shade some days but I still don't want to be running around my house getting ready to leave with a running car idling outside. Sorry, you are on your own OP.

Subarus used to have a sensor in the transmissions for N so it was possible to install them safely (at least 20 years ago). But now most states make them illegal so no point there. You should leave your car in gear too. Way I look at it the slushbox drivers that are too lazy to shift can have them to themselves.

Over at BMW they felt remote start was bad for the environment and wouldn’t offer it. Can always be worse.

I too would like to enjoy the comforts of Remote Start with my 7MT BL Mid (still waiting). But I can understand why Ford would be against providing Remote Start if the vehicle had a MT.

Does the Parking Brake automatically engage when the MT Bronco's engine is turned off? This introduces other inconvenient issues, but could be a smart safety feature. I once found my MT Ranger sitting in the neighbor's yard... evidently I neglected to engage parking brake the night before. Luckily only his grass was inconvenienced. It was a learning moment. :oops:

Just out of curiosity, what do you think the car is going to do while it idles? I warm my Bronco up all the time in the mornings while doing my final prep to leave. Much nicer getting into a warm car than a freezing one. Is security your concern? You can lock the car after starting it if so.

My Bronco has an automatic because Ford wouldn't let me order a manual transmission with a Base Sasquatch. My Mustang has a manual transmission.

Still, I can't see a circumstance where I would want to remotely start my vehicle. How hard is it to go out and start the thing? It takes what, 30 seconds?

===== Edit =====
Okay, now that I've tried remote start with FordPass, and gone out there in 19 degree weather without warming it up first, and having to scrape the frost off of the windshield, you can now count me as a remote start convert. ;)

I’m in the same boat as the OP, I would like remote start but will always buy manual when available. I had to go all the way to Badlands for heated seats FFS and still no remote start. I’m also not a fan of the ebrake button in the Bronco, but I do like how is disengages automatically if I forget to disengage.

To my knowledge the parking brake doesn’t engage automatically, but I think it should.

You have to lock Bronco before remote start will work
