Unfortunately they don’t list a date of when the part was updated/replaced (at least not anywhere I can see) I’ll ask my parts dept tomorrow and see if they have any idea how to get that information.

2 door new part number is MB3Z-9H307-Q
4 door new part number is MB3Z-9H307-R
Are they really up to Q and R revisions? Or does each supplier get a suffix?

I’m not sure what determines the suffix. But the part number has only been changed once.

Also this failure sounds like a sending unit issue, which the fpdm has no control over. It only controls power to the pump motor.
ding ding ding... My thought exactly. Bad fuel pumps usually stall the vehicle, hard to start, etc.. false readings on DTE and 10 gallons to fill the tank sound like the sending unit

Does it cross reference to another vehicle?
Unlikely, but I don’t really have any good way of checking that.
If you google either part number it only mentions Bronco though.

Maybe there is an obstruction in the fuel tank not allowing the sending unit to work properly. Doesn't sound like a fuel pump issue. Might be a bad ground or short. New vehicles these days have thin gauge wire.

Maybe someone higher up the food chain can answer this better but ................

My 08 F-150 has a fuel pump driver module on the rear crossmember that is common to fail and gets rusted fast to the crossmember so it is a pain in arse to change. I don't know if the Bronc has one, or where it is, but could it be that this is malfunctioning and cause the fuel pump failure?????

One would think the Ford techs would check this but I know how most of those "techs" are. Not ALL but MOST.
Same Same 06 F150, dug deeper after fuel pump replacement didn't fix it. Drive had a hole corroded clear through it.

I've heard the suffix is the version number. Don't ask me what triggers the change. Could be supplier, minor engineering revision of some flavor or complete different design.

Sad to report that I'm still waiting for the part.

My dealership was obviously not in the rotation for the 44 parts that shipped in mid-August.

It shows that there are 44 pumps backordered right now, but it also shows 63 pumps will arrive at a depot on 9/13. If this is correct, it shouldn’t be much longer.

What is the reasoning for putting the Techron in a new vehicle?
‘someone please educate me. I’ve always believed that there is no such thing as a miracle in bottle
In my head it was for a detergent. If for some reason the sensor or float was dirty or hanging up because of some dirty fuel. It was a long shot but I was giving it a try. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Yup, it is just extra detergent. Techron works pretty well. I totally get OPs reasoning, I might have done the same thing, but since its a newer car, I'd have assumed the fuel sending unit was going bad.

I bought a used Land Cruiser a few years ago and the gas gauge had weird behavior, it would stay on full for a WHILE, and then magically poof, would go to 1/2 to 3/4 of a tank. I filled up with Top Tier gas and added a bottle of Techron. That solved my issue.

I only use Top Tier gas as well, which I highly recommend everyone do. If I am on a road trip and finding Top Tier isn't easy, I won't sweat it.

@OP, it sounds like the fuel sender is going bad. I wonder if it is an electrical issue, since you've already had it replaced several times. I'd escalate to Ford.

Shows 13 in stock at the National depot so I’m not really sure why they haven’t received it yet.
