Soft top rubbing and wearing paint on Bronco roll bar [updated with TSB Fix]

I've had the soft top down all the way a couple of times now. Mainly took the rear and side windows off and left them off for two days. Opened and closed the top at night and morning, also when not driving to keep the seats cool ( the sun heats up the MGV very quickly, I noticed this rub on the roll bar. Will be talking with the dealer about it this in the near future. The soft top frame has a little lateral play. when closing it up, the frame can rub if it isn't lifted perfectly even left to right.

If you get a chance could you explain a little more what you are doing? I don't quite follow. Any help for the slow kid would be greatly appreciated!

- Helicopter tape to address this issue
- Electrical tape for the mirror whistle issue
- Painters tape when taking on and off the doors

That is a lot of tape!

just need something with duct tape and its gold.

I noticed that on the demos I looked at, its just how its made. Looks like they used clear resin on this composite section. It's on a barely visible interior surface, and I am sure they prioritized function over finish on this part. I would not be worried about this.

Following this, because if my top frame rubs my paint off when I finally get the Bronco in the next week or two, I’m going to be pretty angry and regret the whole purchase. Seriously. I’m buying something new that I’ve waited for over a year, and any damage caused by the “normal” function of the top is not going to fly. Especially after I changed my order to soft top to make sure I got mine “this year” and now see post after post after post of Broncos with hard tops delivered before mine. And after I sold a perfectly GREAT SUV last week that I’d planned to keep another 10 years, until Ford announced the Bronco.

I’d use PPF. Felt tape is going to look like shit

Who said that? The owners reporting it have said it's from rubbing going up or down from being slightly off center, or pulled to one side.

...like I told you, from the owners who are reporting this. There was no contact while driving in the one I drove. It sounds like you're making that up.

I thought so too at first. But he’s talking about putting it on the black bars of the soft top itself not the painted roll bar.

Ah on the bars could help but how long will that even last when exposed to the sun, rain and rubbing?

This might be a good short term solution. Have held up well on my buddies sail boat. Ugly, but should hold up better than tape or PPF.

I'm starting to feel better about not having a build date yet... I mean, there seem to be a lot of issues with the first few Bronco's off the line... whether the soft top, hard top or engine stalls.... and from what I hear, Ford dealers have not been all too helpful.
