I went the other way. Started at Base but ordered a Badlands. Will I regret paying for all the extras that I probably won't use? Only time will tell.

All of the other crap the mid high and lux package offered seemed to be just nice to haves or luxury things I would never use.

my build came out to 41k and all I’ll miss is the sway disconnect and 2 goat modes. All the extra camera 360 stuff and all of that doesn’t appeal to me

Been all over Arizona's dunes, Indiana trails and mud, did just fine using open lockers and finesse and common sense.
I saved the money and went base Base. Just adding Squatch added 7300.
Bigger wheels and tires will be 2500.
Researched axles, the front will be fine for my usage.

E-disco is really nice. I've had it on two Jeeps and it's like a magic carpet on bad terrain.

Someone will chime in with "yeah, well, you can always add manual disconnects." That's true, but you'll almost never use them. I've overlanded a bunch, for over a decade. Guys with manual discos almost never get out, craw under their rig, disconnect, and zip tie the swaybar to the frame. They just don't. But when you can do it just by pressing a friggin' button on the dash? You use it all the time, and it's wonderful. I used it way more than my lockers.

Will you miss it? Probably not, if you haven't experienced it before. Just don't ride in somebody's rig that has it.

I honestly have crawled under my Jeep and manually disconnected every single time I hit the trails ever since I first tried it. This includes when I used to have to use wrenches. The quick disconnects make life much easier and I know there will always be lazy people, but it doesn’t mean there aren’t those that are willing to do the work for extra articulation and a smoother ride.

For me, on a Jeep, it is 100% worth hopping out and disconnecting every time. I agree that many people won’t disconnect unless it’s pushing a button, but those that it really matters to will either get out every time or pay for a Badlands. And for all we know, the IFS on the Bronco might make it smooth enough that it’s either unnoticeable or not worth it to disconnect unless it’s a super rough trail or you’re in the rocks.

I still think the OP will be just fine with a Base Sasquatch and can disconnect when he sees fit. It’s the only build that made me consider switching from a Badlands.

What this thread misses entirely is that there are

after you order your Bronco. You made the best decision you could at the time with the variables under your control.

While the sway Disco is certainly not a huge time saver, don't forget that unless you squatch, the 210 front axle is not very common anywhere in the Bronco model lineup and is worthy hardware to want on your rig.

I don't want squatch but want front lockers and the 210. That allows three options: OBX with the Decipticon Gold dashboard and lots of options, very expensive Wildtrak with pretend-to-be-a-soldier interior or Badlands....

Badlands is the direction I went. Sway Disco wasn't even a factor or talking point of that decision, it simply came with it along with the other options I was willing to pay more for.

The Badlands just got too salty for me considering what all a BaseSquatch gives you.
I really want a manual and BL was around 46 -47 as I recall with Mid.
To me , that was like paying $6k for heated seats.
So I looked HARD into BaseSquatch, real hard.
In the end, I want to teach HoosierDaughter (who JUST got her learners permit) how to drive a manual in the Bronco.
Now, I'm at 33k and scouring the web for good wheels and bigger tires.

base model 2.7 with samsquanch. My shitty 3rdgen Tacoma manual transmission really turned me off to a manual 4x4.

I had a 2001 Tacoma ext cab manual and loved it. I had to look up to see what years make up each generation... Sometimes I wish I had never gotten rid of it. That thing was great. I needed a bigger truck so I ended up selling it to get a 97 F250 ext cab diesel.
I have had so many vehicles it boggles my mind.

Off topic but- do you know any IN trails? Besides Redbird, Interlake, and Badlands. Our trails seem to be limited to those 3 and basically washed out gravel roads lol

Went base model with samsquanch package.

no sweet disco sways as the cool kids say, nor the extra two mud and Baja goat modes....

realistically how much will I miss these? I heard the sway disconnect can be done with a few bolts and experience? And I get the impression goat modes are more like presets more than anything. Is this an accurate assumption or is this something I will end up regurting?

I also ordered a Bas Sasquatch, 4 door. I feel like I might “miss” the electronic/hydraulic sway bar disconnect, but my plan is to see how much the assembly is from Ford, and if it’s not crazy expensive, purchase one and retrofit it into the base model.

Yeah I know, I can hear all you guys, “you can’t just plug it in though”, and yes you are probably right, but I do a lot of CAN bus retrofits and modules for a living, so I have an idea of how to integrate this into the Bronco with some of my existing products. We’ll see.

Getting too old to crawl under a vehicle to swap ring and pinion and locate lsd's

The math for my wants just works out

Will keep an eye on it's ability to turn both rears in mud and snow above 20mph
