I’m starting to be looking hard at selling/trading my RCSB F150 and going either a Bronco 4dr badlands with SAS and a few other things mid trim. I have a 5 x 12 double axle trailer that I only really use for Home Depot / lowes runs and the occasional need to take my Kawa mule to the shop. I can get a smaller trailer if needed but wanted to get a view on if I can tow that long of a trailer or not. I trailer is over kill. As I’ve never had more then 2k on it
So the question is can the bronco pull that long of a trailer safely or will I need to swap it for something like a 5x8.
Any view are appreciated.
Thanks.

Total weight and tongue weight are the concerns, not length or width (within reason  )

Here is my Bronco with a 5x10 single axle... which is about the biggest 5' wide trailer you can go before you hit dual-axle trailers.

For the occasional trip Lowes and whatnot, the 5x12 should be fine. And if you already own the trailer I wouldn't bother swapping it out—especially if it is aluminum or steel with a wooden deck.

If it is a 5x12 steel with steel decking... mmm... that's when it gets iffy because the trailer itself is probably 1500 - 1750 lbs. And it seems kind of silly to have half of your available towing capacity used up just by the trailer alone. It may make sense to sell it for something smaller (especially if you can make money off of it).

But again, if this is just for the occasional trip, should be fine.

I tow my 17' bass boat and trailer Monday thru Friday, no issues at all. I installed the tow hitch and harness myself, and had to purchase a 9" drop hitch.

I blew up this site with my own thread on this, literally brought out all the keyboard warriors. 6x12 no issues. 3700 pounds verified at scale. pulls like a dream. don't worry about it, but i have since put a brake controller in the bronco so i can actually stop it.

My 5x10 single axle at 2,990lbs currently pulled with my F150 is going to be pulled with my Bronco once I get one. Big deal right? What you have and for the use is fine. Just want to point out smaller single-axle utility trailers with the 3,500lb axles (derated to 2,990 without electric brakes) are pretty handy, easy to manage, and tow.
