chains for snow ....prob could have creeped out of there no assist...
Maybe or maybe not. I recently had very mixed results with chain in 5 foot deep snow. I did much better with low air pressure for more float than chains which seem to want to dig. Of course there was no way I was going to dig to hard ground where he could at least get to earth. Either way it is really a story that deserves it's own post.

Would like to hear the story. Snow is a challenge, try to float or dig down to a solid footing.

I believe it's a matter of how deep the snow is. If you dig down on deep snow it can compact and you'll turtle. Lots of variables in any case.

I am baffled as to why inexperienced people go offroading alone! In only one vehicle!!

This guy is obviously a clown who thought a nice rig will sub for knowledge and experience.

The type of douche that just floors it, to see what happens.
100%. dude's got more money than brains or sense. I get we all start somewhere, but maybe not start with a $70K vehicle.

Thanks! I needed a good laugh today. I also need to show this to my wife. I'm not as foolish as this guy, but now she will understand why the spare is going on the roof rack. Better rear visibility, and keeps you safe from stupid moves like this.

Also the type of snow is huge. Nice cold snow with a good floatation footprint and slow no digging approach works. Old Ice refrozen then chains help. Deep slush you have to drive it like you stole it. Chains though are usually a last ditch effort to bring to get you out. Lockers can be dangerous too on off camber and cause you to break loose and slide. So much to snow to learn. Go with friends and tell people where you are going and when you should be home, have winch, shovels and traction boards are a must.

Yeah, something to watch. I touched my tire once on a small drop off. You can air down your spare to help mitigate any damage to the mount or tailgate.

Here’s my Bronco Recovery rig :D

Just a bit of a lead foot. The driver has obviously never been rock crawling.

So, this seems to be a great example of why a tail gate reinforcement is needed for larger tires. Thoughts? It looked like the tailgate buckled pretty quick - but yes he did send it quite forcefully.
That’s why it should me mounted to the bumper not this tailgate crap. Rock hard 4x4 rear bumper and tire carrier resolves this.

35's from the factory probably weigh less than most rooftop tents.
Might as well start warning people of imminent rollovers with RTT's too.
