When I go kayaking, biking, hiking, etc. I usually don't want to carry my keys in my pockets or risk losing them in the river. Also when I'm on vacation or traveling for work hundreds of miles away from my extra set of keys I don't have to worry about that one time I'll be an idiot and lock my keys in the car. It's a feature I've found myself wishing I had on my Tacoma several times so figured I'd better add it!

I don't think it's possible to lock your keys in a Bronco (absent a key pad, I guess). Am I wrong on that?

Yep. It will honk at you if you try it.

Had it on my 99 Explorer and the keypad got used all the time when getting things from the car or locking the keys in while at the beach or in a kayak.

For 100ish bucks it's an easy choice for me.

You can lock them inside using FordPass and a faraday pouch.

What if I also want to lock my phone in at the same time? Or if I'm parked in a place without cell reception? Need the keypad.

For people who want the keypad, it's an irreplaceable feature.

Perhaps you misread. I lock my phone, key and valuables inside my cargo area enclosure at the beach using the keypad. I put the key in a faraday pouch so it doesn’t work. Found that with the doors off, the truck will still start sometimes. I have mine in the fuel door and use it a lot. Especially if I am out in the yard and need to get in. Don’t have to get my key or phone. It is irreplaceable for me.

I have had a keypad since 2003 and they are the most useful part of a car/truck/Bronco. After tires, engine etc. It was the first option I put on my Bronco when I ordered it.

I wish it came not installed with the 3M ready to place in your desired location. Seen the gas tank cover placement and I like that. Apparently these are throw away tho which I don't care for. Why you would not make these replaceable batteries is beyond me in today's world of plastic and e-waste concern. Bet I crack it open and still try to replace the battery myself. 🤫

I’m adding to my fuel door as well. Does anyone know how to program through Forscan? Would rather program myself if possible these units have to be programmed the old method of switching key multiple times does not work.

So key in the faraday pouch your bronco still starts occasionally? Sounds too risky.

Yeah i love the feature and have had it on most of my Fords. That said when I finally placed my order it was accidentally left off. Can this be added as an accessory after the fact ?
