So one 4 channel amp for the front 4 speakers, then another 4 channel for the rear pods, and then the mono amp for the sub which I forgot to mention in the updated build! It's a 10" ported kicker that is nice and compact but still puts out a great low end performance, even with the top down!
where did you place that 10" sub?

It's to the left of the cargo area right now, trying it on both sides to see if I can hear a difference in the low frequency response from the driver seat!

Not a big fan of all the yellow on the box, but it's not something I have to look at often, and can always black it out with some fabric dye!

Hmmmmm, I'm not too keen on losing cargo space .... i wonder if two forward facing 6x9's could somehow be mounted on the C-column, and if so, whether a subwoofer is even needed in an open air car?
what do you think? I mean at this point we're all just experimenting right?

It's definitely possible! I enjoy a decent amount of bass in my music, but it still sounded good with the sub not wired up. Also for my specific use case if I ever do need the extra cargo space the sub comes out really easily!

So, what's your impression? Did you do only the dash?
Had a chance to drive around a bit with the top on. Listening to everything from rock, reggae/dub, down tempo and little bit of country/bluegrass.

Overall a MAJOR improvement in the mid to high range. Guess I’ll need to look into the kicker panel pair for an improvement in the lows?

That being said…I’m coming from an incredible stock sound system in my 04 Jetta TDI which is the only thing I miss more that the extra 20MPG.

Where are you putting the sub?
I am going to see if it will fit under the front passenger seat OR just mount it to either side of the rear cargo area where space allows.

It would be interesting to see if it could fit in the b&o sub location.

-----Was VERY tempted and torn between the C1-650x and the C1-650 components.

Hey, I like this setup. I just got to the part where I can't decide between the component 6 1/2s and the two-ways. What is your thinking after a week or two of usage?

I don't even have my car yet, so the first question is there an obvious place or two for the tweeters? Thanks.

Oh, sorry man. I'm a soft top and built yesterday. We'll see what happens. Still shaken up from that purgatory video from today.

But if get mine, I'm throwing this speaker setup in it. I'll document.

I am looking at similar setup as well with some Kicker 4s and 6.5s and the powered sub under seat like the hideaway or the Kenwood version. I looked at the option for the JBL Bass Pro like some others have done but worry about a rechargeable battery sitting in the truck cooking in the Florida sun all day.
My Bronco was built early last week and is in transit beginning this week. Trying to get all my add-ons now.

I see some people are mixing brands of speakers or even putting boat speakers in the rear. Is this okay to do? I’m no expert, but in the home theater world this is a big no-no because of timbre matching. I would think that could be an issue here as well.

Ideally, I would like a build where I can just swap out the 6 base speakers without adding an amp or sub. My concern is going to be the low end sound, but could a nice set of door speakers give me enough. I’m not trying to rattle the seats, just want a nice soundstage.
