Anybody getting some fierce injector rattling on startup? Turned over 31k miles today and it did it twice today after sitting for a couple hours. Almost like the fuel pressure had completely bled off while sitting then of course pumped back up at startup. It lasts literally 2sec max but it was significant to me. Definitely coming from the top end.

That’s the cam phasers, well known issue of most/all ecoboost v6 engines

Yep, cam phasers need to be replaced like mentioned above. Will only happen for a few seconds on cold starts

Powertrain is 5/60
Thanks
I thought it was 3/36
Good to know because I fully expect mine 2.7 to rattle sometime in the future as well and will be replacing the phasers at first sign of rattle…

Yep no problem. Unfortunately they probably all will at some point. I’m just waiting on mine also

They’re all correct. I already had this particular repair done on my Bronco. Happened at about 5,000 miles.
The good news is my Bronco ran like a dream after.

Does it hurt anything? aside of the initial noise, If it takes a second to pump them up to work, aren't they good after that?

Just wondering if it's worth having someone pull out the entire engine to fix something that goes away after one or two seconds.

Shooooo weeee it sounded like a diesel this morning. I'll be contacting the dealer this week. Gonna get a recording of it cause it mainly does it on cold startup.

Risking premature where on the machined journal heads
So I’d say It’s worth it

Mine did it twice today. Once when I left the office to get lunch after sitting 4 hours on the office parking lot, and again tonight when I left the office after sitting for 7 hours.

My 2022 Badlands Bronco is at 7,400 miles.

Just over 5k miles and mine started rattling. Been at the dealership for 6 weeks. Took 2 weeks just for them to confirm it was the cam phasers and they’re saying some of the parts are on back order till the end of the month. Hopefully you’ll have better luck when you take it in for repair.

Is this only an issue with the 2.7 or does it also happen on the 2.3?
