Yep, saw that for the Roadeo deal. However, wanted to take it on a couple of road trips. Also want to do Imogene and Black Bear Pass. Don't think those will happen this year either.

I am going to talk with my local Ford dealer about this.

Unfortunately there's really nothing you can do. They're not going to replace an engine until it blows.

Now they may diagnose it, and determine it needs something like a new head or something... So I'm not suggesting you don't bother taking it to the dealer (You should).

It's my understanding that most people that had the motor go out due to the drop valve, had absolutely no signs. So maybe yours is something totally different.

There's already a thread on this, it's the one you copied and pasted. You'll get more looks in the other thread. Maybe a mod will merge the two.

Julian date 211, 2167 miles on Bronco, motor stopped while 10 miles off road, not fun getting back to the pavement and then having it towed another 150 miles to home, $1300 ouch. I think mine is the first on this date, I can’t say for sure it’s a valve issue but sounds exactly like the rest of the 2.7 blown engine failures described on this post. Thanks, Lucchese and the rest of you on this post, I feel better about having to get the Bronco repaired knowing what many of you have already gone through. I’ll update once I get it to a dealer and confirm the problem.

Julian date 211, The Ford dealer confirmed the motor is toast today, waiting for them to contact Ford, I'll contact customer care to push it along and hopefully some reimbursement!

Sorry to hear this! Hoping you get up and running….and soon!
Question - thread says “47 so far”. But haven’t we exceeded st least (50) by now? Thinkin it may be time for an update. Lucchese?

Totally agree! I tried Baja mode in 2H once on the street and that was enough. Ended up adding Sport via Forscan.
Cool, I didn't know you could run in Baha mode without enabling 4wd.

Hello,

My 21 two-door Wildtrack falls in the Julian build date (21180 = 6/29/21, Seq = 120358) for the valve issue. My engine now has a ticking sound and is louder at speed.

My family and I were about to book our date for the Bronco Roadeo in Austin this summer and then attend the Bronco Super Cel in September. I do not have confidence that we will make either.

Would greatly appreciate any help/advice.
Tim

I would take it to the dealership. Did they do the oil change where you noted excessive metal particles in the oil filter? There is at least one owner on @Lucchese’s 2.7 engine failure thread who had their engine replaced after noting ticking sound and metal particles in the filter. Do not hesitate. I think engines like yours have something wrong with the Cam. Please follow up here and on the 2.7 fail forum.

Thank you for staying on top of this. #48 was built one week before mine. I have over 4K miles on mine. Fingers crossed.

Just crossed the 10K milestone on mine, 2nd oil change, and no appreciable metal found this time either. Keep your hopes up. I think maybe now I can feel fairly safe based on mileage on the chart, thankfully.
Sorry again for the 50 on the chart who have had to deal with it.

so yours is Julian 349 ?
- this would be the first 349 we've seen in B6g tracking I believe
- is it rev -AB also ?

Yes...but I don't have any issues. Just skittish now. It wont change how I feel or drive.if it breaks, it breaks, and Ford will have a screaming mimi on their hands. <grin>

so far we haven't seen any blown engines w Julian 180
- it is in the ' Hot Zone ' w many surrounding events
- what's your mileage ?

for the ticking sounds there are some threads covering repairs of 2.7L Cam Phasers
- 2.7L Tick on cold start up w @sotto1979 , @segt1915 , & many others
- Cam Phaser Rattle ? w @segt1915 , @Theherofails , . . .
- see video by @segt1915
- might have same problem they had
I also have a 21180, it has at times made a little more noise than I thought was "normal" but it wasn't alarming either. Everything has held together for 21,000 miles now. Will be doing my 5th oil change this weekend.
