These days, efficiency should be part of the equation. Which is why Ford uses these tiny engines, turbocharged. Under 20 seems just wrong. It'll depend on your setup.

The Eco in EcoBoost stands for economy, duh. It has to get good mpg. :ROFLMAO:

J/K, but nobody will know until the official tests are done on a production model which they haven’t started making yet. My guess is that it will be competitive with similar 4x4s.

Nobody knows... except carindigo.com! :D They must have "all" the inside knowledge to claim 20 city and 26 highway for a combined 22 average.

https://www.carindigo.com/ford/bronco-2021/mpg

If you can't tell, you should take this with a grain of salt... But, it would be funny if it turns out they are right.

The F150 2.7 L Ecoboost weights about 4600-4900 lbs and gets 20/26/22 mpg. The weights not too far off from the Bronco. Mpg should be similar. I‘m cool with that.

The squatch might get less, but the bronco is more aerodynamic than a truck with an open bed

Above 20 mpg on regular unleaded combined would be amazing. Especially coming from 23 mpg on premium...which is a 30-40% upcharge here

If a manual 2.3 Badlands can return 26 on the highway, I'll eat my hat.

The JL Rubicon owners are getting around mid to high teens MPGs between city and highway, so I'm pretty much expecting something along that line.

I think its hilarious that people even consider a vehicle like this if they are worried about fuel mileage. I understand fuel prices are different everywhere. Some even justify another car payment with insurance and maintenance costs, just to save 5 mpg. I did the same thing when I had my '95 Lightning getting 9 mpg. That math never worked out, and I missed out on a lot of drive time with a really fun truck. Then I started thanking Prius owners for saving fuel so I had more to burn. Buy it. Drive it. Enjoy it. Like the old saying goes, "if you have to ask, you can't afford it".
Meh. I CAN afford it. Doesn’t mean I want to burn fuel recklessly.

Was one of the reasons I am steering away from the Jeep. The engine felt under powered and combined with poor fuel economy, I thought ford could do way better. Mid teens MPGs I can live with if I’m driving something with some serious giddy up.

My Mustang with the 2.3 EcoBoost (and over 80k miles on the car) has had an average of 18.5 mpg over the 4 years I've had it with moderate driving (a mix of city and highway).. I'm expecting with the Bronco being as aerodynamic as a barn, it'll get less - I'm expecting about 15 mpg
