Did you see any shots of the CV axle angles or boots?
Nothing that small ever hurt any reasonably-built chassis. A common misconception is that the standard shafts aren't enough to turn those big ones over. It really depends on how hard you want to push your rig through the mud or over boulders and along the trail and what you do when you get stuck.
