As mentioned before the table is NOT official. I believe it was made by a forum member?

The Bronco does not have a valved exhaust. Can you imagine if it did? All the old school guys (you know ... the ones that want the white top) would call it a GIMMICK.

:)

Ah, got it. I know there are performance cars that actually open up the exhaust in sport mode (the C6+ Vettes come to mind) so figured it might be something like that. I'd personally would prefer they not do that. I really don't need to hear a 2.7l V6 anymore than stock haha.

I think the thing about the GOAT modes that's important is the change to throttle and transmission mapping in the computer. The rest of it is stuff that you can do manually, and when I did the ride-along, the driver put it in a specific GOAT mode, then made some manual changes that he liked, for instance, locking the front axle and leaving the rear axle unlocked.

It does some stuff automagically, but you can undo anything you have a manual control for. :)

Overall, I think better to have it and not need it than to want it and not have it.

I think the quote from the ride was, "It gives the novice and intermediate driver a lot more confidence and confidence is capability." That works for me.

I’m very excited for the goat modes on the bronco. As we know not every bronco has the same amount of goat modes. My question is that even if a bronco doesn’t have “mud ruts” can a few buttons (like 4h, crawler gear etc.) be pressed and it’s basically the same thing? (I hope I explained this right hopefully y’all get it😅)
No we don't need goat modes.

I have been off-roading for many years and have never had any modes.

I am sure they will be nice. But even without them the bronco would be very capable. Locking differentials have been what made an offroad vehicle capable in the past and the bronco has those.
From the factory this bronco will be more capable then any past bronco even if you don't use the goat modes.

Here you go, here's some actual GOAT information from Ford. (Not the early speculation one).

Interesting! i You can have the rear locker engaged at any speed in Baja mode in both 2H & 4H. In Sport mode the rear locker is only available under 25 mph in both 2H & 4H. Relevant to my Base Squatch. I hadn't really imagined needing the rear locker while at speed. Can anyone tell me what I'd want the rear locker on while doing 50mph on a desert trail?

Funny. We also have a new F150 with most of the drive modes, I would question how you get the same shift points and throttle response in Sport mode without using the drive modes? As far as Baja mode for the street, no I would not use 4H, either 4A or 2H. The F150 uses 4A for Sport mode.

My totally amateur opinion on goat modes is they will be like different drive modes on a sports car. I don't think they will be a total gimmick but I do think they will be useful. they will help the novice more than the experienced mostly by just getting them in the right combo of settings.

If you really think they are a total gimmick jsut ask someone how much a difference sport mode makes an F-150 or the drag mode in a Mustang GT.

I have a 2020 Explorer ST and it has something similar to GOAT modes.
There’s a significant difference in drivability, transmission shifting, holding gears, throttle response, allowed torque and etc between them.

I’d gather there’s a lot more going on with the GOAT modes that a few switches could just replace.

I'm getting a manual transmission. How would traction control work with a stick?
I live on a dirt road. As soon as I get to the dirt part I smack the traction control button on my Mustang to turn it off. Poor thing gets confused and "drives funny" because it thinks the wheels are not supposed to slip.

Half the time I just turn it off on general principles. If it's not raining, why would I even want traction control?

I ordered a manual, so they aren’t really gonna do much for me. I've made it this far without them and quite honestly, I absolutely hate sport mode and tow mode in my f150s so there's that. Gas on the right, clutch on the left, brake in the middle.......

This is pretty much where I stand on GOAT modes. I’m pretty much old school (see my avatar) when it comes to 4WD systems and therefore know very well when to use (and not use) 2H, 4H, 4A, lockers, etc. But the background changes to throttle, shift points, etc. Is where I think the GOAT brain will provide a better, more economical, or more fun driving experience. This will be my first vehicle with drive modes, so I am hoping this stuff is meaningful and not just marketing hype.

Yes we need GOAT modes because without them, how would you control the fuel mapping, shift points, braking sensitivity, and steering sensitivity.

People get stuck in a one track mind thinking it's all about the hero switches when it isn't. That is why you can manually adjust those, but you can't manual adjust the real tweaks behind GOAT.
