Installing the Steel Bumper after the fact?

I originally ordered my OBX with the stock bumper, but now I’m regretting that and would rather have the modular bumper. I know it’ll be a lot more than if I just had it done initially, but is it even possible to order one? How’s installation post delivery?

I saw a thread yesterday of someone who installed a takeoff mod bumper they bought from another user who installed an aftermarket bumper. It seems like its bolt on with the exception of the tow hooks which you will have to cut off.

Actually, the Tow hooks can be unbolted. Not sure why he cut them off. I guess he was trying to make it a harder job than necessary.

Post a 'Want to Buy', I'd bet that someone would let theirs go easily if they've spend $$ to get an aftermarket onw.

On the models of the bronco that come with the standard bumper, the tow hooks are welded onto those brackets, which can't be unbolted and removed since they hold the intercooler on as well. someone else in the thread posted a diagram from a service manual that shows that.

Definitely possible with some cutting.

The biggest issue would be ordering the parts from Ford. Ford is keeping parts close to the chest right now and saving it all for the assembly line due to all of the component shortages. Seems practically impossible to order anything unless it is for warranty purposes.

Im in Buffalo, but will need to look into this a bit more..looks like it’s a bit more complex than I thought, having to cut off the tow hooks.

From what the person who did the same said, it's best to either order from the factory or if not, just go aftermarket.

The stock bumper looks like ass AND at $825 which includes upgraded bash plates, the MOD bumper is a BARGAIN!

Curious. Has your order been scheduled or built?

my Wildtrak has been scheduled but not built. I asked my dealer to add 2 items (door bags and engine block heater) and they did. No issues.

ask your dealer if you can mod bumper.

I'm in KC. What are you asking for the mod bumper? Haven't got my WT yet......but ordered without mod bumper.
