WOW ! Can't wait until I get my Bronco - NPS880 I want to do something very similar. Isn't there some sort of under storage in the back? and can you still access that part?
There is but because the panels are hinged the rear section with the storage boxes can also be folded up reveling the jack compartment. It's a bit heavy but still manageable.

Built a platform for my 2DR.

23/32 OSB plywood 4x8
Indoor/outdoor carpet
3M spray adhesive
9/16 staples
Piano hinge

Cut the plywood at Home Depot. Asked for 53ā€ got it cut to ~53 3/4ā€. Still fit (luckily) in the Bronco for the trip home.

Cut to 42ā€ wide for the rear and cut an angle using cardboard template for the part in front of the cup holders (suck it 4DRs! :p) and kept the standard 48ā€ width for that section. Cut a 29x17.5 access door for the jack and storage area and attached piano hinge. Spray adhesive on one side and staple carpet to the underside. Cost me around $120 (including stapler purchase and excess carpet since sold in 12ft lengths).

I get the seat belt/airbag warning but Iā€™ll address that later. Might add attach points or hooks later but thisā€™ll work for now.

All in all, a pretty easy project. Iā€™m not terribly handy when it comes to repairs or crafting things, so give it a shot if you are on the fence. Not as fancy as Goose gear but price is right!

If you disconnect the seat belt latch from the seats you removed, you can just plug them back into the wiring under the carpet and the seat belt warning will go away. It looks like it would create a bulge, but the weight of the plywood compressed the carpet foam backing and it's totally level in mine.

Yeah, I am considering doing that. I thought that the seat belt latches would cause a weird bump, so that is good to know that they donā€™t. I might take my front passenger seat out for the weekend (doing a trip and sleeping in the Bronco) and that would give me a light as well. I donā€™t feel like messing with that seat and its belt at the moment. Perhaps Iā€˜m just being weird about it!

Thanks for the info and inspiration!

This guy did a video showing removing the latch from the seat back trim (just use a fork or trim removal tool for the push pins). https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/video-how-to-2-door-rear-seat-delete-cargo-load-floor.52453/

I made these things Iā€™m calling a ā€œfootwell bridgeā€ today which extends my cargo platform to the whole length of the back area for camping. They just go around the headrest and have an adjustable buckle and also clip into my cargo tie-downs at the bottom to keep them from moving around.

I did something similar but went a different route and painted it with bedliner paint. Also adding a sub box and will add a built in shelf about the sub box.

What distance do you get from the back of the seat to the tailgate door? I get about 5ā€™ and then the incline of my bed rest starts due to the front seat.

Slept in the Bronco Friday and Saturday and it wasnā€™t great but not terrible either. Definitely room for improvement. I need a few more inches of flatness so I can stretch out fully. Ended up sleeping at a slight angle with my knees or hips and tossed and turned the first night.o_O

Second night was better. I slept further forward in the Bronco to help with the leg issue and I was tired from the day (motorcycle track day), crappy sleep the night before and a beer and I slept great!!!

In the future, I will remove the front passenger seat and build a platform extension.

Looks to be 64ā€. Seats slide and seat back fully forward.

Iā€™m sure mine measures the same. And I noticed my passenger seat slides just a little bit farther forward than the driverā€™s seat. Looks like you have a good set up. If you have too much gear or youā€™re too tall to sleep diagonally, then taking out the passenger seat would make plenty of room.
How are you hauling your motorcycle?

Iā€™m not super tall, but I think the seat removal will be best. The driverā€™s side has the rear tailgate latch bump out which was slightly interfering. Drivers side is definitely tighter so I donā€™t think that will work.

Uhaul motorcycle trailer is the play for now. Basically $25/day includes insurance and is a pretty good deal IMO.

Nicely done. I wanted to keep the rear seats just in case so I came up with a storage option without removing the back seats. The panels fold back allowing the rear seats to be used. Also included tie down rings and cabinet locks which lock the panels down using the built in tie down rods built into the rear seats.

I need this so bad. I haul the grandson around on the weekend and am doing several construction projects during the week. Can you post a pic of it in the open position. Im gonna build this so any pics or any info on what materials and where you got them would be helpful. Maybe a pic of the frame if possible.

This looks awesome. Can we see what it looks like with the seats up and the panel folded over?

Really great work! This thread was part of my inspiration for this past weekends project.

I ended up leaving the seats in and did a platform. I wanted a level load floor to make it easy to load my photo gear (larger pelican cases) and also something to hide my subwoofer when the top is down (or even with the soft top on). I also like that it can be removed in a few minutes.

still a work in progress:
