Beautiful Superbowl Sunday, I decided to go Safari mode today. Having magnet mounted my Element extinguisher on the roll bar since my last top-down experience, with the top open, that thing jumped out at me and screamed steal me! It appeared to be just too inviting.
I have relocated the Element to under the rear passenger seat. I found enough metal for the magnets to grab and I think that will be the new home. Even the best laid plans sometimes go awry.
Top down is amazing but you have to take care of your stuff!

I used a seat rail mount on the passenger side. Easy to grab in an emergency.

It's attached to the seat rails. It didn't work very well so now it's in the glove box.

I used the Bracketeer for an under-seat install, and itā€™s been very solid so far.

Initially, I had my doubts, but another Bronco owner told me it worked well for him. He gave me a couple of installation tips that Iā€™ll share below.

Tip #1: The Bracketeer has two set screws that help secure the bracket to the seat rail. There is a small hole near the inside end of the seat rails. Line up each set screw to nestle inside the small hole ā€“ it wonā€™t go through the hole, however, it helps secure the set screw.

Tip #2: Use Blue Loctite on all bolts and screws on the Bracketeer. Itā€™s in the instructions, but Iā€™m guessing some people donā€™t do it.

I also used the double-sided foam tape as indicated in the instructions ā€“ this probably helps to avoid any movement or creaks.

Below are some photos of my installation with an Amerex 2.5 lb with the single-strap bracket. The weakest link is the single-strap bracket ā€“ if I grab the extinguisher and twist hard it wiggles a little, but in driving it was solid ā€“ even over bumpy terrain. I have since switched to an H3R Halguard (Halotron) 2.5 lb that comes with a 2-strap bracket ā€“ with this bracket it is rock solid.

I jammed the inside arm (left in photo below) as short as possible with the multi-drilled arm in the position shown. I kept the outside arm (right in photo below) loose and adjusted it to fit the rails.

Have one in the LWN as well, although the design has changed slightly.

I thought about getting an Element extinguisher. But they're only B:C. Also as many have pointed out, you have to get pretty close to the fire to use one.

I ended up getting the E50 with a magnetic bracket. It's stuck to the side of my refrigerator in my kitchen. I'm not comfortable using an Element for anything other than a cooking fire.

Also I'd like to have an ABC extinguisher in my Bronco instead of BC. Sometimes water isn't available.
