I feel the same way you do. I appreciate what he is doing and will further say think that it is actually needed.
Don't get me wrong, I find his antics very entertaining - in the same way I loved Nitro Circus. It's his stuff to bend however he likes.
But that tipover was pure foolishness. Yes the engine stalled, but did it cause the brakes to fail? That's the only way it's the Bronco's fault (In which case my desire for a manual handbrake is even more valid). It's the uncontrolled backward roll that's the problem. Either a lack of brakes or a lack of sense...

Brakes don’t work as well in a stalled vehicle and to get to any sort of handbrake quick enough you have to be experienced or anticipating it

Nail on the head there. He defends his driving by “finding the bronco weak points”. He just likes the skinny pedal too much and definitely needs to take some air out of the tires or get less stiff tires.

‘In the end, it’s his money so he can do what he wants. The bigger deal is he’s trashing two broncos when people have yet to get their early reservation Bronco.
In his defense the doors are a weak point.

But for the low low price of 899 you can get engineered plastic door covers in case of rollovers. 😂

I think with that Bronco, with that equipment (which is like most stock broncos) in a position like that one, you need to just bail out in a controlled way.
Once the bronco suspension starts bouncing you need to get that under control before progressing. That bouncing loads and unloads the tires, improving and reducing traction during the bounces which change the power impulses that are trying to drive you forward.

You really need to crawl up those rocks, not go bouncing up them.

A handle next to the seat takes half a second to pull - any experienced off road driver will tell you it's second nature to grab that handle the instant you stall. Or if you learned to drive a manual in, say, San Francisco ;)
That's why I'm calling an either/or. If the brakes didn't hold then he did the best he could in that situation. But If the brakes won't hold when stalled on a hill, then you must have a manual handbrake in a vehicle designed to go off road...

I agree, I see all these videos of folks bouncing as they climb and I just want to pause the video, let some air out of their tires through magic, and start the video up again. Seriously though, I don't know why folks aren't airing down to at least 15psi

Lol!
My JL's an auto and I still have my hand on the handbrake going up anything steep....cause you just never know....
It's like turning on the blower in a gas boat before starting the engine...it was beat into my head at an early age and is an essential part of the process

So it is a 2.3/MT?

It just seems that in crawler gear, on slickrock, with aired down tires and grip, all you need is neutral throttle and let the 24,000 ft lb tq pull you up, or risk bouncing, loss of traction and sliding. It looked like there had been a generous throttle application there when it started sliding left a little bit ("Generous" in crawler gear being anything over ~4-6% throttle application, it doesn't take much in crawler to get the revs up)

Although i'm certainly guilty of having a heavy foot on the race track and investing heavily in brakes just to offset being ham fisted.

The best comment in this thread was wondering if Ford would be at fault for the body damage due to driver error. Oh yea, when they say "bumper to bumper warranty" they're talking about ANYTHING that happens to the car is Ford's fault and they will fix it right up.

Tesla showed the world how far the warranty process can be pushed. Asteroid cracked your window? Bring her in, we'll fix you right up!

I'm pretty sure it's an automatic....that's what was surprising. They haven't figured out why it stalled....they thought maybe the angle triggered the fuel cut off switch

That was just a joke for the manual guys. Just busting their balls because they're so emotional when it comes to getting a manual 😂

That certainly seems like something which would have had some engineering attention, especially as FoMoCo did their entire Moab/Canyonlands dev trip with the half dozen mule cars.

Of course, we don't know so it's all speculation. There's a lot of magic happening in modern AT's so who knows at this point...

these are really good people. this same bronco lead our trail and winched me out of a slick spot just a couple of days later.
