What did you have to do in forscan and what was the error/codes you were getting? It might help others in the future!
Alllllllllllllllll kinds. Only grabbed a couple pictures though. We’re dropping it at the dealer tomorrow and I’ll ask them for the list.

Dang. File is too big to be uploaded. I’ll shorten it but you get the idea. They’re going to start modules and connections

Thats … impressive.

My first guesses would be:
Rock banged a wiring harness or something sparked and melted a harness and caused mayhem
Rodent eating wires
Failing battery

We actually replaced the battery the first day it started happening.

The others are definitely possible too

I know I’m bringing an old thread back to life. Spare me the forum comments of “this is an old thread. Start a new one” or “why didn’t you just do a search”

Just doing a deep dive into the transfer case and some recent issues we were having. And we literally had our laptop out with Forscan to get things going again.
You win a prize! Spin the wheel to find out which one!

- This thread is old, start a new one.
- There are [insert # > 1] threads on this, comment on one of those.

The prize is poison, the only way to win is not to play. YMMV but don't say we didn't tell you so either way.

When people comment on an old thread and get chastised, so they start a new thread and get chastised

My part time case has been good, no chain noises! The fact 2.72 ratio works means we should have some compatibility with a 4 Speed Atlas. Really just need to focus on what sensors we currently have in the transfer case and how to dummy them out.

Now that I’ve learned how this Advanced case works, I’m more convinced that going basic is better if planning on building something up.

Update-Ford technicians are unable to find anything wrong with wiring or modules. I haven’t been able to find any stronger tcase clutches but! Suncoast can take a clutch, strip the coating, and apply a stronger, more aggressive coating to it. I ordered an OEM clutch and it will be delivered directly to them for this process, then I’ll throw it in and see what happens when wheeling. Not sure how 4A will be affected by this coating but we really don’t use it. Will probably test it out just to see what it’s like.

What's your mileage? Might as well drive around in 4 auto to see if the system will self adjust. I really wonder if it has to do with how long you sit on an obstacle at a extreme angle and things drying out. Clutch is centered in the system so it may not be lubricating properly nose up or down. Have to remember that fluid is keeping the clutch pack alive by cooling it. Not sure more friction wont burn the clutch out faster as its a slipping design.

It’s about 27k.

I actually asked about this and with it being in full lockup they don’t think that should be an issue, but need to confirm as some slippage is needed to create heat but obviously it needs to eventually lock up. In automatic mode the lack of fluid will certainly be different, but either way the coatings (four options available) are meant to increase longevity when higher temps are encountered. The guy I spoke with has a buddy that builds rock crawlers and is a Ford guy allegedly familiar with the bronco. He’s going to give him a call with the details to get more information on the clutch system and see what the best options are.
