This TSB came out about a month ago, but here is the information for anyone interested or that has this concern.

While similar, this is a separate issue from the other 5th/6th gear synchronizer TSB and doesn't appear to cause grinding/noise except for the specific gear engagement listed.

Whoohoo, a problem I don't have!

Are these bad synchros only present in AA revisions or AB as well?
I'm not sure yet. But that is something I'll look into

Mine grinds occasionally going into third but it’s usually due to a communication error between my brain and my left foot. Third seems to be the only gear I forget I have to move the shifter before I lift up on the clutch.

Interesting to see this. My 3rd gear has occasionally been a bit tough to get into if I don't move it into the 3rd gear gate with some speed. Like I would have to let the revs drop a bit more than usual before it would slide fully in. 3-4 shift is absolutely smooth, so no issue there.

I get this maybe couple shifts out of a day's worth of driving. No grinding from my end though.

Thanks @Ducati1098

I recently had the TSB 23-2019 completed because of grinding in gears 1-3 (which I did also have some in 4th), but when I got it back, there was noticeable stickiness going into 3rd, it was almost impossible to get it out of 3rd, and then sticky again going into and out of 4th. All other gears are smooth going in and out, except if I'm going FROM 3rd or 4th. Sometimes I have trouble even getting into 1st if coming from 3rd or 4th... even at a complete stop.

The dealer who did the TSB 23-2019 just ordered me the parts for TSB 23-2219 today... should take 7-10 business days so I'll be waiting for 2 weeks.

I'm skeptical that the TSB is the issue, and that the technician didn't do something wrong in the reassembly process... but hopefully them taking it apart again will give them a second chance at putting it together correctly. Plus I get 2 more syncros replaced for free, so that's nice.

I'll update afterwards.

I have noticed grinding issues when engaging 1st while going 80mph. Would this recall help with that? Usually the grinding is drowned out by a high pitched scream from the transmission so I've just left it alone or turned up the radio.

So, just stay in 1st and 2nd gear to avoid issues.

Interesting, thanks for posting. I imagine that this is one of those "those who know, know" type of issues. It would be pretty obvious.

Wait, third gear part of the input shaft?? So you have to replace the entire input shaft?

EDIT—

Never mind, didn't read far enough.

Never mind, didn't read far enough.

I was confused by “3rd gear is part of the input shaft” at first also.

Because 3rd gear is removed from the input shaft for the other TSB to replace the 5th/6th synchronizer rings.

Just a poor choice of words on their part. 3rd gear is on the input shaft, not necessarily a part of it.

I do believe AB transmissions may have bad synchros as well. TSB 23-2019 covers the issue for MY23 and my dealer service rep confirmed for me that my 2023 7MT Badlands with an AB rev transmission is included in that TSB.

Some MY23 Broncos were built with the old AA transmissions. So this could only be for those only.
I’ll look at the parts in the morning and see if I can determine if the revised transmission will have this issue or not.
