Water in front differential?

Just realized my text didn’t post with my pictures so all of you are like ok.

This is from my daughter’s front diff. 50k mile and it was never forded in anything more than a street puddle after heavy rain. I’m a bit perplexed by how the water got in.

That'll happen with water crossings.

Hot diff quickly cools and sucks in water past the seals.

This is why I don't fuck with water in my vehicles and change the diffs in my wheelers every 200 miles.

Marine gear lube is supposedly better at suspending water than the regular shit.. fwiw.

Doesn't Broncos have vent tubes that are above the fording height? I know my 02 Ranger FX4 does. I have not looked for the vent tubes on my Badland but it has a rated fording height and should have them.

Maybe not all models have vent tubes.

Yes vent tube is in the engine bay at the firewall.

Did you Check the vent tube and see if it’s connected?
Maybe someone has been driving in deeper puddles than admitted and the vent tube is off.
Pretty hard to pour wiper fluid diwn the diff vent tube so I think we can safely rule that out.

When I was 18 I told my father I had no idea why the tires on my first car, a Boss351 Mustang, only lasted 4000 miles.....

Replaced the front diff fluid on my 25 Badlands yesterday and found a similar issue. Truck only has 10K. I've done water crossing off road but nothing even remotely close to where the breather is mouted and I don't bomb through the water. Breather tube seems intact but I did notice the drain and fill plugs were almost hand tight. Replaced with amsoil and will replace again in a few weeks to see flush again. Odd.

P.S this is my second Badlands Bronco. I did the same type of wheeling in my 21 and didn't change the driveline fluid until the truck had around 30 or 40k. All fluids looked normal on that truck. Also the rest of the driveline fluids on my 25 looked normal. It was just the front diff

You would think if the oil wasn’t leaking out water couldn’t leak in

I think these are cases of a Friday build and some guy on the assembly line can’t find what he did with his coffee
