I have a stock badlands with 33s and have changed the spare. And I'm pretty small. I guess those 35 and up really must pick up weight.
My arms are basically noodles and I can do it. When I slapped some wheel locks on I decided to see how heavy it was.

I've had my 37" spare off a few times while installing the tailgate reinforcement. Bend with the knees! :ROFLMAO:

I haven’t deleted my spare - but can speculate why somebody would want to:

1. Reduced weight
2. Increased visibility
3. One less thing to hang up on offroad. I’ve seen a few instances of somebody coming down on the spare and bending the tailgate and/or smashing the rear window.

And I supposed there are possibly those who think
4. Just “looks cleaner”
All of the above. I deleted mine for all of the reasons stated. Plus, the wife likes it better when she throws the groceries in the back. Never used spare on previous vehicles, but installed ARB on-board compressor and will carry plug kit for peace of mind.

I deleted the spare on my JLUR to fit it in the 3rd bay of my garage in FL. The 3rd bay was very short, fit a miata very well, but the jeep just barely fit without the spare. I ended up putting the spare back on and putting the jeep in a different bay though.

Wait, you want to fiberglass over the tailgate vent?
Vents could be incorporated into the bottom lip or something.

The spare belongs up front where you can keep an eye on it. Never a real need to pop the hood on modern vehicles
Ahh….the good ol’ days. Just get a 35” tall spare that’s only 8” wide and that opens the door to all sorts of possibilities…

I've been waiting for somebody to do a clean spare tire delete. Fiberglass or ABS, not sheet metal. Cleanly incorporates an aftermarket third brake light (not re-use the stock one because the curve is unnecessary without the spare tire), license plate mount with license plate light, backup camera and tailgate venting. Make it look as "factory" as possible, especially when paint matched to the body color. I'm not a fan of gluing it on because I may want to switch back to a spare tire carrier later, so it needs to be a non-destructive, reversible installation. I think the cleanest way to mount it would be a low profile sheet metal frame that bolts on to the stock spare tire mount bolt holes, then the fiberglass shell snaps on over it, maybe with a couple of hidden screws along the bottom where the vents are to lock it in place.

Someone please make this. And while you're at it, make the bed rail caps I've been whining about for almost a year.

For towing without an extension or a dirt bike rack.

Inside Bronco or inside home? I’m curious if there’s a secure method to put inside a 2-door? Prolly just would want to do that while crawling to be sure it doesn’t get caught at certain drops.
You could mount it vertically like the roof panels and secure it the same way.... ratchet strap to the floor rings and around the head rests. Wont be much room left in the back but that would do it.

Weight is the enemy of off road, ARB twin and patch kit, no spare.

Went with Agency 6 Spare tire delete, no real instructions or video but figured it out and about 45 minute install. I chose the onboard compressor and repair kit. The weight off the tailgate alone is amazing.
