I have no clue what it had when I picked it up, but Im 500 miles in and the only fill up I've done is 91 octane (highest octane in my area).

I am still in the break in period, so the engine/trans acts funny by default. After 1500 or so miles, I should get better understanding of how much high octane gas is really helping.

I'll likely do the 2:1 routine that is common (2 tanks of 87, one tank of 91) unless I plan on really wheeling hard that weekend.

Costco 87 almost all the time. This is my third 2.7 and it has always been great. I have run premium a few times and notice little difference. People report better mileage with premium, but I think it's mostly mental. Octane is the resistance to pre-ignition, not the stored power in the fuel (granted, with modern electronics and sensors, the engine may be able to gain efficiency with spark and valve timing flexibility the higher octane fuel could allow). Note- It is also a "top tier" supplier per the above mention Consumer Reports article.

I think oil changes are more important than fuel , for turbos.

Top Tier premium for me (if premium is what Ford suggests). I want the engine and those turbos as happy as possible.

That Consumer Reports list of Top Tier gas seems a bit arbitrary, or at least not explained. Is there anyone not listed? I mean, ARCO? This is not what I thought Top Tier gas was, like Chevron and Shell, et. al., but cool since I always do Costco and just assumed they select top tier gas like they do wine.

Iā€™m going to run 93 octane for the best performance possible and engine longevity

4-5 tanks of costco 93 so far. Itā€™s usually the same price as 87 is elsewhere. Not sure I could tell the difference if I ran 87 since I donā€™t really hammer on it. Iā€™m sitting just under 17mpg yet again commuting to work on 45mph 2 lane county roads.

True. I'm going to do quality oil changes too.

Can you tell I don't quite trust a dual turbo Ford engine? šŸ˜œ

Tried to post before... I am used to using 89 in my Challenger so I am a creature of habit... Edited to add, I am getting 17.5 in city driving...
