Why didn't Ford integrate the keypad into pillar?

I have the B pillar keypad on my fusion, & I love it in the summer when I go cycling and don't have my keys in my pockets.

Not sure about the Bronco keypad but my keypad also puts the windows up and down which is great if I happen to get out and realize I left a window down.

I currently do not have it spec'd on my build but I may have it added and hide it somewhere.

Love the keypad. I'm up in the mountains most the time and have no cell coverage for the Ford Pass app. I don't want to take the key with me when I'm running mountain trails, so the keypad works perfectly for me.

Same here. I spend days at a time in the backcountry fly fishing. No cell service, which is nice. Last thing I want to do it take my keys with me, take a dip in the river, and then be stuck in the hills with a broken fob. Lock keys in and hit the river. Been doing this with every ford I have had since 2007.

Apparently, some folks like to leave their keys in the Vehicle all the time. I suppose that's a convenience for them. I'd worry that my truck would end up missing because the casual thief popped open the door, jumped in, tried the start button and low and behold, it started right up. Bye-bye Bronco. I can hear them thinking, "Wow my parts stripper is going to love having one of these to part out".

I love the keypad on other Fords and would have optioned it if:

1. It didn't look like a tacky Wish accessory.
2. The battery version was reliable.

Intelligent Access has covered most of how I would have used the keypad anyway so I've gotten over it.

Being pre-programmed with a code from the factory, I doubt that many reprogrammed them to easy codes.

I’ve read somewhere on the forum, that the keypad is easily relocated to inside the fuel door.

For the record, the start button does not work where I locate my key. Fact.

I would think the soft top would be more of a risk than someone guessing a code.

I don’t have a bronco yet but my understanding was if you bought the accessory after delivery you can put it anywhere you want.

I always thought it looked tacky but it at least is color matched. Unless I’m misremembering, the pics of it in 2021 were they all were black and looked really bad.

I'm installing a similar graphic, I wish they would've kept it black and I would've relocated it to the pillar. I think it looks like a wart where it is, and now with the color matched patch, the pillar is off the table.

Had it been integral to the vehicle, anywhere, there would be hundreds of posts here about what a crappy location Ford picked for an Off-Road vehicle

There would be hundreds of posts here by people who didn’t want it and considered it a liability.

They went with, “If you want one, buy one and put it wherever you want”.

Except for the complaints about how cheep it feels and what to do when the battery runs out!
