Crap you are going to make me look too lol. We have both a ‘21 and ‘22. I’m sure I’ve used both and they are mounted where my fingers have to go under. They must have hired a new guys and turned him loose lol.

I should clarify my earlier post, April 22 badlands 2.3/7mt, pivots from the top. I have definitely pulled the hood release instead of the handbrake on more than one occasion so I could see that as one reason it was changed.

OK, curiosity got the best of me, so I went out to the garage & took this pic. Mine is a 2021 Outer Banks Oct 2021 build. I’ll dig up the date if that’s important.

Curiosity got the best of me so I took this pic of mine (2021 4-dr Outer Banks Oct. 2021 build). I have a grade on my driveway so I use mine pretty regularly. Yours is installed so the space for your fingers is on the top instead of the bottom. Must be pretty frustrating to use! My question is how in the hell did they install it like that!? I guess the bezel is separate from either of the under dash trim and the switch?

Mine is a 22 base and it's positioned the same way. IDK why, but I do wish it was a mechanical centre console handle and not an electric switch.

This is very interesting, unfortunately I don’t have any information that will help figure out a reasoning. I haven’t seen anything posted by Ford about it.

Just out of curiosity I looked in the parts catalog. It does show 2 different part numbers. Unsure how accurate these dates are, but it seems 9/16/22 they made the switch to the new one

FYI. You don’t have to turn the brake off. Just apply a little throttle. Automatically disengages. I prefer the Maverick location on the console. You don’t have to look for it. Maverick also applied it automatically if on enough of a grade. Not sure if the Bronco does.

It must have been a mid-22 change. My early 22 is hinged at the top. My brother who just got a '23 is hinged at the bottom like the one pictured.

Just got back from the garage.

January 2022 4-Door, V6 Auto here.

Hinged at the top. Pull out the bottom. I don't use anyway.

I've only used it three times (bank drive up ATM)

Pull on, push off is weird enough.

Maybe it has something to do with people pulling the switch right off of there in the 2021 models? When I went to Off-Roadeo they mentioned being careful with the parking break switch because lots of people have been ripping them off lol. I haven't even used mine once

Yep, I ripped one off in Vegas. Too used to older cars that require you to pull with some force to set the parking brake. They had to send the Bronco back to the shop for the day. Ooops
