Thanks to another poster, I assembled a phone/GoPro magsafe mount that attaches to the upper dash accessory mounting point. Works great except that over time because of the eight when the phone is attached, he base mounting point becomes loose and the whole assembly sways, sometimes tossing the phone in corners. I have tried tightening repeatedly but it always comesloose over time. Any issues with using white thread tape over the screw that goes into the dash? I assume that the tape won't become fouled in the accessory point if I wantot remove the phone mount later. hanks!

Idk if it will work in your case, but thanks for putting this in my mind. I'm always looking for a thread "snugger" but never thought of using T tape in a non sealant application!

I don’t know that will accomplish what you are looking for, but if it works who am I to argue

My first though would be see if there is enough thread to get a locking nut up on top, then when you install it you back the locking nut out to snug it up.

If that won’t work I’d get some 222 loctite

I second this - You can still remove the bolt easily with hand tools, however it should prevent the bolt from backing off on its own. I've started using this more often when there's a concern of vibration potentially doing the same thing over time. Works great!

I used Loctite. Twisted on by hand. My mount has a hex base, so removal should be easy.

Use a jam nut screwed onto the thread b4 you instal then tighten the nut against the dash w/ a wrench.

I put a o ring between the base and the mount and anywhere tension is used to secure the mount. This lets you have something to tighten to besides the metal/plastic and helps “grip” it. Has worked for me so far.

Thanks! Is this just a rubber washer?

I do not recommend the use of teflon tape for this application. Teflon tape is designed to allow pipe thread, which is tapered, to tighten to a leak-proof joint. Regular bolt threads are not tapered and the tape will not “lock” the joint. Use blue lock-tite or a lock nut of some kind.
