Idk but I'm aware of it and I've yet to comment on it. It might be one of those things where you only hear about the negative stories and the majority of people don't have issues. That thread has turned into an echo chamber at this point. How many pages is the Grinding Chinese Transmission thread at now?
Not sure why so curious, but my 2 Dr has the 2.7, so auto slushy for me.I think that most manual transmission are found on 2 door Broncos but what percentage of two door owners choose manual?
I understand all that, do you remember me from Moab? We were talking manuals. We have a trail like that here in WI...probably the most famous one in the whole state (unfortunately closed till 2025). Was the 1st trail I ran in my 6g. It's all in the technique. One thing about MT is your right foot has instantaneous control over the wheel torque, and hard bumps will make you blip it if you don't anticipate them. 6g is geared well enough that you can actually "two foot" and trail the brake to slow the hard breakover from slamming your undercarriage on the boulders (you gotta do that w/an AT too or else play the undercarriage xylophone for all to hear). Don't ever be ashamed if you stall it...w/practice that can be a useful technique, and it's what you have crank in gear for (although I would WAY prefer if Ford had done like Toyota and just put a button on the dash for it instead of the damn menu). I 1st did that trail in my manual YJ and I didn't think there was any way I'd make it home cause I banged diffs so hard in so many spots...then I watched a guy in a manual TJ make it look easy...he was actually able to roll some of the smaller rocks around w/his tires like he was rearranging the furniture! That's when I learned it's the man and not the machine, and started to challenge myself more...now it feels like w/an automatic the truck either gets through or gets stuck...but I didn't really have anything to do w/it. Each to their own...I don't fault anybody that prefers the AT...but MT has a certain feel to it that I and others really love, and I'm glad that somebody at Ford knows this and pushed for it!
No issues with my manual and 3rd and 4th gear with the turbo spooled up are just plain fun.Idk but I'm aware of it and I've yet to comment on it. It might be one of those things where you only hear about the negative stories and the majority of people don't have issues. That thread has turned into an echo chamber at this point.
Sounds like a rough day on the trail...but what I don't get is how an auto trans woulda made it better? You were driving a MT w/your shoulder in a sling? Ya I guess thats gonna make ya want an auto! Hows the shoulder doin?I understand all that, do you remember me from Moab? We were talking manuals.
On my way back the spotter was even saying, you're going to scrape, no way around it here. It was because the boulders were that big with so much material washed away; along with the mud which wasn't helping matters. I was watching the guys that have run it before try to plant their tires just to watch them slip or rotate or both and end up sideways or high center. The leaders said it was the worst they have ever seen, a lot of material had washed away. One group had a EB lose a radiator, and two Broncos broke front axles. And, it was taking small groups of 9 or 10 three and a half hours to get through just one of the three boulder crossings/fields.
It was 3:30 getting cloudy and I was at a point where I just wanted to make it out before the rain came. Once through that last Boulder crossing nothing more to worry about, but that part of the trail I knew and it went up a couple of points in difficulty from all of the run off from the snow melt. Love that crawler gear!
Spoke with the Bronco Specialist last Wednesday during my service, I know drink, but he said just like the Mustang 2.3 lost it's manual the Bronco is losing it too.Manual for Bronco isn’t being discontinued. Not sure where you got that information.
Oh okay. Apparently their specialists don’t even know the product.Spoke with the Bronco Specialist last Wednesday during my service, I know drink, but he said just like the Mustang 2.3 lost it's manual the Bronco is losing it too.
It's doing great considering I just got the stitches out 2 days before the event. Second time/surgery is the charm. I had to use the sling for only two weeks and this last weekend's trail runs, but I'm out of it now and ready for PT. Thanks for asking.Sounds like a rough day on the trail...but what I don't get is how an auto trans woulda made it better? You were driving a MT w/your shoulder in a sling? Got a link to the fix?218...
But Ford finally came out with a fix that's working, and updated it for the 23's that didn't get the updated transmission. Finally!!
Yes, the 3-on-tree was the original, and while the 1st gens later got an auto, no real Bronco was ever offered with a stick.2D manual is the original Bronco that Ford "established in 1966" and it's blood ran thick into the 90's. That said, I'm glad the 4D and auto exist, otherwise I wouldn't have my 2D MT in this day in age. ..........
