Unfortunately Ford made it hard to just swap out the steering rack you will need to take it to the dealership ( or pony up for the FRDS software and interface ) to do it.

If you just swap it out, you will constantly get warnings about degraded performance every time you start your Bronco, there is a software sequence you have to run to tell the Bronco you are about to swap the steering rack, then swap it, then tell the computers that you have installed the new one and what its serial number is.

Unfortunately it's not something that can be done in forscan after words to update it. You have to do the full sequence in order, or you will get warnings.

But having people replace their steering racks on the trail? So you're saying they got errors by doing this?

Yes, it doesn't stop you from using the Bronco its more of an annoyance. And you need to retain the original if you ever want to get rid of the alerts, since you need to connect it to start the replacement sequence

So far we know that there needs to be a calibration for sure done to most or all models to use the updated heavy duty Hoss 3.0 steering rack

Adding HOSS suspension after the fact should be all about the steering components.

If you want different shocks, just go out and buy different shocks... You don't need Ford.
I don't doubt this will change (hopefully sooner rather than later, but who knows these days), but at the moment, to my knowledge if you want more capable shocks without going to full coilovers and the baked-in ride height increase that comes with them, there are only two options, the Icon EXPs or takeoff/parts counter HOSS 3.0 shocks, and the Icons aren't exactly cheap for what they are.

Can a Sasquatched Badlands be upgraded to the HOSS 3.0? Relatively easy?

Never mind it's sounding like you have to take it to ford?

Here what we have so far ...

Nothing verified yet, but parts are in route.

Hoss 3.0 Steering rack kit with HD tie rods

https://www.fordoempartsdirect.com/oem-parts/ford-gear-rack-and-pinion-steerin-nb3z3504m

And here are the part numbers for the 2 Dr hoss 3.0 shocks.

your link is the steering rack with hd tie rods? Should we assume the part is the same now? Also, the badlands is a rather solid build save for the darn steering and tie rod issue....would you upgrade any other hoss 3.0 parts?

My understanding is getting the stiffer steering rack (HOSS 3.0) plus maybe the improved Bilstein coils are really the only improvements outside of better belly plating you might want. Even the HOSS 2.0 isn't bad unless you want to run hard in tire pinch territories and don't want to be replacing tie rods. So my plan was to replace the steering and tie rods to 74Weld stage 3 and Ford HD tie rods that come with it and call it a day(, and later when the wallet stops smoldering the coils???), but that's maybe wishful thinking.

I have the Ford Performance lift kit. It’s a 2” lift with Bilstein 6100s. Set ride height. Sasquatch springs and top hats.
