Engine replacement with cab/body off photo.

This technique is more common on some trucks and is not required to remove the engine from the Bronco. The tech doing the work just preferred to do it this way.

1400 miles. 2.3L. I don’t know the specific details of the failure.

I worked in automotive in AZ for 14 years. That picture looks to be taken at Camelback Ford in Phoenix. The Bronco has AZ plates, the ZAK products are the in house brand for Berkshire Hathaway Automotive locations, and that is an older shop that was converted from in ground lifts to above ground. BHA Automotive only owns three Ford locations in AZ, the west building at Camelback is the oldest/likeliest candidate.

So the 2.3s and 2.7s are both failing?
LOL!
God how I love these comments!
THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!!

I challenge you to find a mass produced motor, from any major automaker that has never suffered a premature failure like this.
It's rare, but they all have had it happen from time to time.
Even the 2.7's were a very limited time frame set of (engine) builds.
It happens, they fix it.

Guess what, they've had transmission failures already also!

I'm scared!

Op - That's impressive and fun to see in a pic. Thanks for sharing. Got to like modern modularity of design and replacement. Simplicity to a certain extent. Back in the day when I was much younger and put a couple replacement engines in my rigs we just plucked them out from the top with a lift after pulling the front end completely apart. Always a few bolts, nuts and parts you never could figure out where they went. Good times.

Ford designed the engine lubrication system, with expectation of off-road use, causing oil to get thrown around inside the engine. Now that so many people are driving only on smooth level pavement, the engines are failing.

Ford issued a Technical Service Bulletin: TSB-159483-SchmucksWhoOnlyDriveOnPavement ;)

So the 2.3s and 2.7s are both failing? The extended warranty is looking really good.

Nice unicorn. A 2 door Antimatter blue. very rare
Ha. As someone who owned an RS with the 2.3.... there's a reason I didn't want another one.

Several, actually.

I had a 2019 Ranger with the 2.3, never had a problem with it. The one in my Bronco sounds like it’s going fly apart until the engine comes up to temperature.

2.3L is fine IMHO. It’s just a fluke warranty repair. Focus RS came with wrong head gasket. Doesn’t correlate to Bronco.

Um has the owner of several big ford diesels the last thing we want to see is a ford tech that prefers or requires the whole body to come off! I get it fine under warranty but ask us supurduty owners how much it costs after the warranty runs out? Let us know what the total payout is from ford and good luck!

Everyone on the forums and Facebook groups have a "sky is falling" type mentality....

People aren't posting about how they drove their Bronco and everything was great... Everything will be fine... I'll probably get an extended powertrain warranty though lol....

Maybe but Consumer Reports list of engines most likely needing a rebuild include the 2.3 ecoboost.

Seems like a lot of extra unnecessary work for an engine replacement. He must not be flat rate.
