To borrow a phrase from my friend @ttaylor667 , who cares. The camera is lame anyway.

if people dont see themselves using the camera , go for it.

but for those who actually want to use the tech on their car , it would be foolish to buy the beta test winch
Crocs are foolish but people buy them all the time.

Uh, I'm gonna be regularly solo wheeling, and I don't need a camera to avoid crashing into things sooo....I think I'll take the winch.

again you have to understand that all the cameras have specific lens FOV's and their placement is extremely important for the birds eye drone view feature the car has. (although i think this is only for higher packages could be wrong i never checked)

you move a camera and its going to mess it up
I understand that. My current vehicle has a 360 camera. But I still think it can be successfully moved.

Is the winch factory installed and shipped? Or dealer installed at delivery? In which case you could presumably order it closer to your delivery estimate and wait and see what happens between now and then.

I suspect by the time many of us take delivery there will be a good alternative to what they offer now, either from Ford or 3rd party.

There's a reason why we don't normally do it that way anymore; danger zone! However, when in very deep mud, that's about the best way to drag you out, of course, change the chains for straps.

It's as if people don't understand what it is the aftermarket does. Recognize a need and fill it. There will be bumpers designed for winches that will not interfere with the camera. You don't have to buy from Ford.

Ford did not think about this at all for some odd reason. But i promise you within a year or two that winch will be gone from ford and replaced with a different design from ford. And within a year FOR SURE warn will likely have a new bumper winch something exactly like this (with foglights)

Having the winch set into the bumper like that is going to require relocating the intercooler, at the minimum. It being in the way would appear to be the largest driving force as to why Ford mounted their winch the way they did.

The winch is a dealer installed option.

I'm curious to who is driving from the screen versus looking out the big windshield in front of them that it's such a issue!

I plan on getting a winch aftermarket, I imagine one can find a smaller one to hide in the bumper

Be careful with those thoughts about "smaller". Not sure if you've had one before, but the winch needs to be rated a bit above the weight of your vehicle. The Warn Zeon here is a 10. I wouldn't go below this level for the Bronco. Don't think it needs a 12 either, but still.

Other bumpers will be made and something may eventually be done with the camera. Land Rover has done things perfectly on the new Defender with the hidden winch.

I don't like the winch on the 4600 race Bronco because I can't see the line spool back in easily. How do you clean it and otherwise access your winch without removal of that big heavy plate? Winch line needs to be cleaned after getting muddy and wet, then reattached; how difficult will that be in a hidden bumper?

Know lots of guys want to get creative here, but a winch is not the equivalent of a bulging sack hanging in fitted jeans, it has real application. If you've ever had one and used it, you know that easy access to the winch is essential. Even hanging too low is bad because think about being bogged in deep mud or sand; these are times when you'll need to shovel, then winch. Digging is part of it, but you don't want t to be digging out your winch. The 4600 sits very high, so factor that in as well.

Ultimately, that camera is "cool", but it won't be used much on trails over obstacles as there is far too much to watch besides what's under the tire. Plus, if you're on an obstacle, you'll have a spotter (if you're smart)

Will admit the winch isn't a perfect placement with that bumper, but the intercooler, radiator, and other parts will likely be impacted by what bumper goes on with a winch.
