I've got 3100 on mine and want to change but we're backed up 3 weeks on oil changes so gotta wait for a cancellation. Will try to remember to pull my stick before going home tonight and see where it's reading.

Hi folks! Can anyone in the forum who has done a first oil change in a 2.7 Bronco AND who was able to get 7 quarts drained and 7 quarts back in AND whose dipstick is reading at the max mark (or slightly below...like at the full mark) please post their dipstick part number and the measurement from the max mark to the base of the yellow plastic handle? It would be much appreciated! Tying to get to the bottom of the "does it hold 7 or only 6" mystery. Thanks in advance!

Oil change guy and lady are just busy. Trying to hire another but no one want's to work and our county has like 2.5% unemployment, lowest or second lowest in the state.

I ran the engine after adding 6 quarts, then after it reached operating temp I shut it down for the night and check drhe level in the morning...like 8 hours later...and oil (with 7 factory filled quarts drained, and only 6 quarts added) was at the max fill line.
I knew your were doing it right, but that was the only thing I could come up with! Thank you for going through all of this for us! I am getting the 2.3 so hopefully I won't have to worry about this particular problem!

If there really is a discrepancy in volume is there a chance the difference is the sump not so much the dipstick? If the truck pan is smaller that may be your issue.

F150 pan calls for 6, Bronco 7...the discrepancy is between the Bronco capacity listed in the manual and the dipstick level also listed in the manual. For me and apparently many others, 7 quarts in the pan = way overfilled in the stick. Just trying to figure out if I (we) should just go with the stick or the capacity. If it is the latter, I guarantee folks who do not change their own oil and make a mental note of the "new" mark in the stick and share that info with anyone who changes the oil for them will screw things up.

Those specs are for the F150...the Bronco has a different pan.
But seems 6 (just like the F150), seems to be the most accurate quantity....

Still can't believe Ford hasn't wade into this topic as it's been a known unknown issue for awhile...

Believe me...if a Ford engineer would just jump in and say "whoops the 7 quart capacity is more like 6" that would clear things up! Or "whoops we gave you guys the wrong dipstick." Either way, some reply would be awesome. As is, we get referred to the dealer, and dealer has no idea (mine said they have not even changed the oil yet on a new Bronco).

Ah ha! So it isn't just me...are you going to have any removed or just drive it? I don't like the idea of my dipstick letting me down...

yea so what the heck
Exactly! I would wager that the majority of folks in this forum who have taken delivery of a 2.7 Bronco and who let it sit overnight on a level surface and who then check their oil will have a high reading on the stick. That means either the factory dipstick is wrong, which is unlikely (because the block is identical between a F150 and a Bronco so the height between the oil surface and the rotating components should be the same) OR that the 7 quart capacity for an oil change is wrong. Dear Ford...which one is it??? I reached out to them in this forum, and they redirected my to my dealer. My dealer hasn't even called me back about my additional 20,000 Fordpass points that all of us with early reservations were granted (even though Ford told me that my points are available). When I did get through to service, the oil level answer changed depending on who picked up the phone. Does any dealer or someone affiliated with Ford have the ability to loop in a Ford engineer? I know dealers have a way to submit an engineering inquiry...
