I learned this lesson the hard way myself this weekend. The interior is dried out but The breather hoses for the differentials/transmission/transfer case are high up in the engine bay. I haven't found the rear diff breather yet. I cleaned out the air box and the alternator is working fine. OP, I don't see you having any issues with water when you were stuck.

The Bronco has a water fording clearance of 33.3 inches. You'll be fine.

Supposed to be able to ford 33.5ā€ of water. If those are pics of the worst of it Iā€™d rinse it off, check the air box and go.

Seriously, clean it up good and youā€™ll be fine.
From looking at the pictures itā€™s not really bad at all.

Rear diff breather is up by fuel filler neck, behind the drivers rear inner fender.

Hey all, apologies if this is the wrong thread as this is my first post.

I need some advice on what to lookout for/what fluids I should preemptively change as I'm trying to avoid a potentially devastating repair. I'm driving a stock Black Diamond and accidentally veered off-course, getting it stuck in some sand/clay/water and part of the vehicle was submerged no deeper than 24" at the most and I was on an incline/angle (see pictures). I was stuck for about an hour and learned a valuable lesson about having recovery gear in the process. My Bronco is driving fine and nothing broke.

Luckily, the alternator seems fine (no sign of the water level getting that high). I thoroughly washed out ALL the sand from the underside. My rear diff was not submerged, but I think the 10 Speed Auto transmission was to an extent. Take a look at the pics and let me know. I just wanna know if I need to spend a few hundred on all oil changes instead of waiting for something to happen and spending a few thousand. Feel free to ask me any questions, thanks!

I think that the advice to rinse off gently underneath with fresh water is important. Waterborne sand and mud carry silt into bearings and ball joints, that's where my damage has been over the years. Or if it rains hard, enjoy the clean puddles! You can also tell your dealer at the next oil change. Have them take a look. Are there ANY greasable suspension fittings anymore?

Can you clarify where those breather tubes are in the engine bay? Are they back between the block and the firewall?

Yes, they are between the block and the firewall. You can see the brake booster in the one picture.

Wow, theyā€™re like at the top of the engine bay. I couldnā€™t find them at first because I was looking right past them down around the transmission. If those get submerged, youā€™re basically in standing water almost over the hood.

Exactly! I am curious to see where the Everglades model has the breather tubes because they are supposedly extended. If those tubes are under water, I think you have bigger issues to deal with than water in the diff.

Old thread, but for anyone reading this, be SURE to change idler pulleys if you get stuck in the water. My Badlands was making a strange noise after being stuck in the water and I finally found the tensioner pulley bad. It was a slight whine at idle that i had attributed to the transmission. Cheers.

Where were those breather tubes located? Is that the front diff and transmission? 2.3? I have an Everglades Iā€™m wondering if mine is in the same position, similar situation except I wasnā€™t stuck, I blasted through it šŸ˜‚

They are by the brake booster (driver side firewall)
