Late last night I was on Cars.com and even I was stumped and had to double check my vin and yep sure enough its her. And the dealership knows me personally so just really surprised they are doing this.
I admire your restraint

Here is a great read about Ford cracking down on greedy dealerships. Para 6 of the Service and Sales Agreement between Ford and Dealers ...good for us to know, and have in our back pocket.
You can even bring a printed copy of this agreement with you!
https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1019849/000095012402000556/k66280ex10-2_13.txt

Bottom of page 10/top of page 11, you can search for the word "bait" to find it.
I would love to see their faces bringing this out....

This has happened before on here I believe. Dealers listed the vehicle so if you don't take it they have a buyer lined up.

don't assume your dealer is out to screw you. Many dealers are advertising Broncos as soon as they get a VIN and confirmation it's built. I would go chummy up to GM a couple times a week and be all excited that you know it's on the way. Don't say a word about the ad you saw. Make sure he knows......that you know.......it's coming soon. Go ahead and get the loan approval done. In the end deal directly with him......not some two bit sales manager or salesman.
Ya...Good idea...go suck up to a dealer so you can get the truck you ordered from them, your truck...what's next..maybe you can mow his lawn or take his kids out to lunch, or wash his windows. This is worse then all of the folks afraid of COVID. Folks have lost the minds!!!!

Well since you don't like my advice, what is your advice to the buyer in this situation?

The Car market is at the craziest of times in my lifetime . . .
Man, you're not kidding. When I placed my Bronco order a year ago, they valued my 2018 trade at 17k. Fast forward a year, and they gave me 25k . . . AND the convertible top needs to be fixed! That's exactly what the damn car cost me in 2018 (was a year off lease). All of Ford's delays and problems saved me 8k. Unreal.

I'd personally call the GM but I don't think you need to be overly concerned that they are trying to sell it out from under you. Dealers routinely advertise special order vehicles which is the status of yours and everyone else on this forum that has made an order. If someone asks about your specific vehicle the dealer will note that it's a special order and will be available only if you ultimately decide NOT to purchase it - of course they will try to sell that potential customer another vehicle they have available.

You could argue that this is a bait & switch tactic, but the dealer does legally own the vehicle and even though it's a special order it's still technically part of their inventory until they execute a sales agreement with you. If you call the GM I'll bet he or she will confirm that they will sell it to the public only if you decide not to purchase it.

Didn't say I didn't like your advise. I'm saying people are acting like this Bronco is the second coming of Christ. It's a truck...in another year or so there will be more of them then the dealers can sell. IMO the dealer is this thread may be putting the screws to a customer. Why would you do business with them. Would you buy an iPhone for $500 more then it's worth. Folks need to get a grip.

Not at this time I do not want to start the Bashing of the Dealership yet😁. Let’s see how things play out before we start the Bronco Forum WAR😂
One reason the link was asked for is that there is some automatic publishing of vehicles shipping to dealer and even customer orders show there. Thus it could mean nothing.

That said, do you have a signed sales agreement (signed by you and them with final pricing)? If not, there is no reason not to talk to the dealer now rather than waiting for its arrival. No sense waiting stressed. I've been frustrated by how my dealer has refused to let me get a signed agreement on my week 1 reservation. They claim they can't without a VIN. You have a VIN. It should be possible without a VIN as my second bronco order the dealer and I had signed sales contract up front without a VIN which is why I know the other dealer's claim is BS.

It is far preferable to get the sales agreement before the VIN because once the VIN is issued that dealer will get the vehicle if you back out and they are highly incentivized by the high markups they are getting to "encourage" you to back out. If you cancel before the VIN it is much harder for them to still get it built though they can play some games there by not cancelling in the system.

In any case you are beyond that, have the VIN so just go in and get it over with. I would just approach it as "okay I got my vin, lets finalize the sales agreement. Best not be defensive at the start of the discussion.

Think I agree w/everyone that says the OP's best move is to try and get out in front of this thing. If it's just a misunderstanding, caused by an automated system, or a marketing tactic...no problem...but best to get the dealer to tell you that to your face. Most of the sob stories of reservation holders getting raped by dealerships happened because the customer assumed all was good until the vehicle was right in front of him. This way the OP still has some time on his side!

One thing that I really wanted to look at prior to purchasing my Bronco was the Engine build date being its a 2.7. And I think I am safe but yeh what’s your thoughts?
